WoW account help

This has nothing to do with the actual game itself and I'll explain what happened.

I experimented with WoW a few years back. I tried it, didn't like it and quit it. This was all back when I was stationed in Guam so around 2005 time frame (I forget specific dates). Anyway, when Burning Crusades was released, I got an email saying that my account was reactivated. I thought it was a promotional deal and thought nothing of it and just kept playing City of Heroes.

I got an email later saying that my the debit card on my account would be charged if I didn't contact them about canceling. Seeing as how I never contact them about reopening the account and that I had changed banks since then and gotten a new debit card, I figured that the situation would take care of itself. Well, it sorta did.

My old bank challenged the charging and won and now Blizzard is saying that I owe them 14.99 for the month of use.

I already emailed the account and billings services people (since the phones are off or busy). Anything else? Should I buy that tube of KY or should am I in the right here?

They won't take you to court over $15. Just say you didn't approve of the reactivation.

This is not a statement regarding whether OP is in the right or not, but while they won't take you to court over it, they will probably turn you over to a collections agency, which can be just as inconvenient as a court date, if not moreso. One way or another, you should work to resolve this because the notion of big companies overlooking small cases like this because they're somehow too small is largely a myth.

Yeah, I emailed them saying that I didn't authorize the transaction and I do not intend to pay but I will work with them in any other capacity.

    Hence the lube remark.
    I kid.
    I hope.

Well, OK, but you understand that there are no other capacities, right? Unless they are nice about it and drop the charge (which could happen, who knows), the only other outcome besides you ponying up the money involves a damaged credit rating. In my experience, Blizzard is generally pretty decent with customer service, though, so maybe there won't be a need for the lube. Just as long as you don't think you can 'beat the system' by flat-out refusing to pay, neither outcome will be too terrible.

Hope it works out OK for you.

Aye... I'll put dollars to donuts that they won't send you to a collections agency.

I personally think you should call their customer service line instead though... because if you get a real person and explain the situation honestly, I think you'll get a better chance with the real person.

I tried calling their support line. First on my cell phone I got a "line unreachable" answer and then an "All circuits are busy" message on a land line. Every time I dial, I get the same thing.

Blizzard has some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. I wouldn't worry about a 14.99 charge from them, I don't think they'll pursue it.

In other news, my account was reopened without my permissions as well. Someone evidently stole my account. *shrug*

Blizzard support is very hit or miss. I've had great experiences and terrible ones with them. When you call them, though, expect to wait forever.

wait... did I read that right? they re-opened your account without your permission and are now charging you for something you havnt used?

Id be fucking livid and would go mental at them. I used to work on a customer service line (woo) and seriously, the only way to get stuff done is to yell.

they would never re-open his account, it was more than likely simply compromised
