Most of us have cellphones and most of us who have cellphones probably have custom ringtones. What's yours?

Mine is the radio music from Portal.

My voicemail alert is the original Zelda triforce song that I got from www.vgmusic.com

My ringtone is the built-in one that sounds basically like a phone ringing. If I were to change it, it would be the codec call noise from MGS, since that is simple and elegant, and also I like MGS.

Ever since about a week or two after I got my first cell phone, I have always had it on vibrate at all times.

That way if I'm in a crowded place I can know it's ringing, and if I'm in a quiet place it doesn't disturb anyone.

I use whatever's included in the phone and doesn't sound awful for alarms.

I think someone else made this thread a few weeks ago.
But yeah Potatoe people used to pay out on me for that, but I was like "pft fuck you I don't care", then I bought a phone because I could get a decent one for cheap off a friend, then I got with a service provider that I don't have to buy credit with or pay any monthly fees, so I'm down with not paying anything and having something so people can call me, fucked if I'm calling them though.

I have a lot of Eurobeat set as various ringers for people. For texts, the MGS codec. But 99% of the time, my phone is on vibrate.

TL DR

My ringtone wins.

Also, I loathe when I have to listen to the first 45 seconds of some bullshit pop song when making a phone call. How incon-fucking-siderate.

For my text sound I originally had something that sounded like that whistling noise from charlie and the chocolate factory. Changed it to the curiosity sphere from portal saying "Hey look a that thing, no that other thing."...

And I just got the MGS codec sound sent to my phone and can't wait for it to get here because that is awesome.

Edit: and I am about to change my ringtone to one of the team fortress 2 songs.

I have the SCH-u540 by Samsung.

I used a microSD card to load MP3s into the device but I have not been able to create ringtones out of them as other phones allow you to do (I may be missing something).

I use a pretty basic ringer (not the default melody which annoys the hell out of me, but a simple digital ring). I wouldn't mind customizing my phone with a different, nerdier ringtone though. Maybe something to compliment the Ghostbusters background I created for it.

My old phone was complete garbage with ringtones - you could spend like $4 to buy the latest Britney Spears hit from the official shop, or spend about a day fucking around with various third-party programs and services to smuggle a tune on. New one is so very, very nice - connects over bluetooth, just drop an MP3 in the ringtones directory.

Have different tones for each category of contact (family, work, etc). Much nicer than having one of the default tones, because I don't have to check my phone whenever I hear one. Some of the best:

For coworkers it's Queen - Under Pressure because it's a nice song I'd let it ring and ring and ring and not really hurry to answer it just to hear the song.

For friends it's Nelly Furtado - Say it Right (girls and default ring for people I don't know or don't have assigned to a group) or Jay-Z - Big Pimpin' (boys).

For family it's Trik Turner - Friends and Family.

For the boyfriend it's Sir Mixalot (guess which song).

For the message tone it's the sound that the Transformers make when they transform.
