So me and Anjin are lending each other some books, and I thought it'd be neat if we had more people in on the "deal", and that's where the GV Trading Post comes in.
What is it?
Basically it is a way for us to lend each other stories we've wanted to read/think others should read. It's kind of like Secret Santas, except:
1) It's not secret, you and your "trade partners" openly agree to the books lent out.
2) It's stuff you already have! No need to pay for anything (other than shipping)
3) It's not for keeps (unless you're making a special deal)! You just lend someone a book or two for some of theirs that you want to read, and then you give them back to each other when you're done! You're like mutual libraries!
What are the risks?
1)While the thread is approved by Geebs, he can't jail/ban anyone for "violations" of the Trading Post. Only lend books to people you believe you can trust. If you're asking someone if they want to trade with you and they don't want to do a deal with you, don't get offended. This is your (and their) personal property that they don't want to lose. If you're a lurker or a new guy, don't expect anyone to really want to do any deals with you as it'll look shady.
2) Unfortunately, things do get lost in the mail. Get insurance on your shipments. If you're in the US it's like $1.20 or something for packages up to $200 in value. It might seem like an unnecessary $1.20, but it's better than having to shell out $15 for a book you already had because of a shipping error.
3) Obvious, but I'll state it anyway. You have to give out personal information for this. If you're not comfortable with other forumers having your home address (or a P.O. box or what have you), don't sign up.
How do I sign up?
Simple! Just post a list of what you have (spoiler tagged, please) and PM me the link to your post so I can put it in this OP. You can have your trades or even all of your singles, if you've got them cataloged (I know I do!). Oh, and only list stuff you're willing to lend out.
It'll be even more helpful if you'll edit your lists to let people know what's been lent out.
