Bioshock, is hands down one of the best games on the 360. Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, and The Orange Box also are good games for people who like to have fun.

Just to add a bit of warning, when you buy your keep it horizontal to help ventilation. It also keeps it from falling over which can break the solder on the motherboard & destroy any discs in the system at that time. And if they offer an in-store exchange warranty take it.

And to add to that warning, don't ever move your XBox 360 while it's running as that is almost guaranteed to destroy whatever disk is in it.

Adding to that, don't look at your 360 in the wrong way or it will Red Ring on you. Coughing loudly has been known to make it happen, as well as talking about the Red Ring around it.

Other than that you should be fine. :)

My parents got me a 360 elite for Christmas and I was way surprised, but as an 18 year old that goes to college and does not work its a waste and it really pisses me off.

I got dead rising with it and after about 2 weeks I was bored.
I spent like 6 hours unlocking the buster cannon to make the game last longer just so I could use it for maybe another 10 hours of playing.

I want to play bioshock and oblivion, but I just can't afford to pay for games.

I got a job last summer just so I could buy a wii, because I thought brawl was coming out dec 1st and it is just sitting there and now my 360 is suffering the same fate.

by the time all the really fun games are going to be in the 5$ or 9.99$ bin, the xbox omega or some crap is going to be out.

    *sigh* I hate my life.

I don't see how you guys are able to afford so many games.

    Jobs.

The irony here is that as many of us are older with better jobs and more money to buy games, our free time to actually play these games often suffers from an inverse relationship.

Hence, I can afford most of the new games I want, but I've got a wife and a business, and not as much time to play as you likely do.

Someone once said something about youth being wasted on the young. I'm sure he wasn't talking about video games, but he could have been.

This. I ,within reason, can buy pretty much whatever I want game wise these days. However due to my severe lack of time my backlogue is something along the lines of completely stupid at this point. So despite really wanting to grab burnout this week I decided to pass for now because by the time I would have the time to play it, it will probably be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Still even if I was a student I would have at least a part time job to pay for some games. Shit when I was 13, lol 18 years ago, I had 3 paper routes to pay for games because my parents wouldn't buy them for me even on holidays. The good news is there are a lot of really great cheap games on the 360 now.

Anberlin. :)<3 back... Anyone who knows Anberlin is awesome in my book.

www.gamefly.com it's like Neflix but for video games. You add games to your queue and you keep them as long as you want. When you're done, you put it back in the sleeve they send it to you in... And they ship your next one as soon as they get it. It's either $15 a month (for one game out at a time) or $22 a month for two.

You can also keep the game if you want for a cheap price (I have Blue Dragon in from them, and if I choose to keep it they will charge me $35). If you choose to keep it, they ship you the original case and instruction booklet.

I too, will attest to the weird relationship between age, money, and time. When you're young and have all the time in the world to play games, you can't afford to buy them. But when you get old enough where you have a job where you can actually afford to buy lots of games, you don't have nearly as much time. But honestly, if given the choice between playing 360 and having sex with my girlfriend, sex wins every time. If faced with taking your kids to hockey/football/baseball/whatever, and playing 360, there is no choice there.

Welcome to life. Anyway, I've got to run now, work is done, then I'm off to see the girlfriend tonight

Another thing I was just thinking about - it seems that the 360 doesn't have integrated wireless... and the adapter costs like $100. Is there a cheaper way to add wireless?

stryker, if your xbox will be sitting near any laptop/pc or whatever that has both a wired network card AND a wireless, or two wired cards, you can create a network bridge for free.

Or you can buy an old router and flash the firmware, and use that to pickup wireless and then plug that into your xbox.

I dont know any details on the latte,r just that it's possible for some routers

If you have cash to burn you might want to actually consider the elite. I'm down to 8GB and I don't do stuff like make Halo 3 replay movies and crap like that (in fact I barely use any 360 functionality aside from single player campaigning, that's it, so not even any extra map downloads). I kind of wish I invested in one 'cause the only way to upgrade that internal hard drive legitimately is to buy MS' RETARDEDLY OVERPRICED one, which means I'd have a 20GB proprietary piece of crap that's totally wasted. Sure I could sell it to Gamestop for a whole $0.000002 but somehow I think I'd get more of my money's worth just to have an overpriced paperweight.

Yeah it's more the selection right now, and I really like the concept of Achievements. It also seems like, right now at least, the online is integrated much better with the 360 (I'm really missing the online play when using a Wii).

Achievements are bloody awesome and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

The amount of great games I might not finish or play fully due to time restrictions in my life frankly frightens me, and achievements are a great way of keeping tabs on what you might have missed / left incomplete.

Plus, some of them are funny / creative / entertaining in themselves.

And sometimes, however much beating a particular section, playing well, or performing a difficult task is rewarding in itself, hearing that little "ba-dink", and seeing "Achievement Unlocked!" pop up on the screen can really add something to that fist-pumping sense of accomplishment.

I bought the 360 for Mass Effect, Halo 3 and Gears of War pretty much. It was a good choice.

I picked up Dead Rising cause everyone says its amazing but I found out quickly I absolutely hate the game with a passion. I can kill 10 zombies with a Katana then its broke, and the game is on a timer so I can't roll around doin' stuff. Oh and the Humvee in the court yard is a nice touch.

I think I'll pick up Crackdown and OverLord today.

Crackdown is awesome and Overlord is good but not worth a purchase if you ask me. Definate renter or maybe even purchase if you can find it cheap or used.

Also CoD4 is awesome as is PGR4 if you're into racing games.

I got CoD4, beat and layed down the law online but it gets boring playing the same levels over. I picked up PGR4 but I found out quickly I hate the fact that you can never get used to a car because you're always being forced into a new car over and over, so it was a waste of money for me. :/

Dead Rising requires a different mindset than most games to have fun with. Your first time playing the game you should ignore the story completely and just mess around, explore the mall, and have fun. After you've done that a while, start over with all of your XP and knowledge carrying over and thrash the story mode without all that frustration.

Also, defeating the psychopath in the rollercoaster area is highly recommended. Not only does it give you a powerful weapon (mini-chainsaws), but it unlocks a secret passage that allows you to skip using the courtyard ever again.

It was mentioned before but I'll be clear for you. You need to buy the add-on from MS or use a wireless bridge. You can buy a wireless bridge, the xbox1 wireless adapter is your best bet. Or you make one using DD-WRT firmware and a cheap router.

Xtarath the official 120gb package by Microsoft comes (to my knowledge check the box first) with a transfer cable that will assist you on that, you will need a PC tho. :)

    Best luck!

Loving Mass Effect, don't miss it, the only (weird) thing is that the load times are not bad as I thought for what everyone was saying, perhaps I'm too early on the game, or I got used to Witcher loading times hehe (more likely) and the inventory is not that bad. :p cooler than Kotor so far althought I miss swords hoped for some type of blade.

You do NOT need a PC in any way to transfer from a 20gb HDD to a 120gb HDD using the MS transfer cable. It's all done on the console.

    Also, remember that it's a one-time, one-way process.

Alright, I'm looking to bite the bullet and buy one, and went looking for the "bundle" some people mentioned earlier. I see that Wal-Mart is selling the holiday bundle online which includes 2 games, and it says the console includes an HDMI port. If this was a holiday console bundle, does that mean I'd also get the newest Falcon chipset?

Amazon also has them available but without the games, but it looks like theirs are definitely the Falcon chipset.

Look at the box. The only way to make sure you have a Falcon is if it says 175 watts for power. Some bundles are/were Zyphers.

No, not necessarily. As far as I know, the easiest way to check is by looking at a sticker on the box which will either say 175w or 203w. If it says 175w, it's a Falcon, though I have seen some people say this doesn't guarantee it's a Falcon, while others have said it does so I dunno... Anyways, I recently just bought a 360 and made sure I waited until I found a 175w box before purchasing one just to be safe.

So I guess it's kind of rolling the dice to buy one online? No stores around here have any, apparently Microsoft is being slow on the shipments right now. Are some of the bundles going to be Falcons at least? I'd like to get a couple games for free if possible.

I got a holiday bundle that was non-Falcon. (It was Black Friday; I didn't exactly have time to examine the box and demand one with a specific mfg date and lot number). Any that have the HDMI port will at least have the improved heatsinks, though, which (supposedly) solve the major problem, so you don't really need to kill yourself looking for a Falcon unless you really need to save those few dollars a year on your electric bill or something.

I got the Halo 360 model and the drive is loud. If I am playing a game and there is a quiet point i can hear it going Whiiiir. To counter it I've setup two large speaker cabinets and I crank up the volume so even ambient noise is louder then the dvd drive on the 360.
