Maybe it was the crack I smoked yesterday, but for some reason I downloaded the demo for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty last night BEFORE I downloaded the demo for The Club. Fortunately I'm an open minded person, because if I played that demo without one I surely would've thrown my 360 out the window right after finishing it.
Unless you're one of those people who enjoys 'so bad it's good' types of movies, I suggest you DO NOT bother with either the demo or the full version of the game.
It is horrible on nearly every major point. This level of detail hasn't been seen since the early days of the ps2. It literally looks like they took a first year ps2 game's geometry and textures, and simply dumped them into the unreal engine. The controls are, by far, the worst I have encountered in years, either being unbelievably slow or unworkably fast. The AI is embarrassing. The animation is actually worse than the geometry. And on top of all of the simple geometry, AI, and animation, they somehow found a way to make the framerate crawl.
The developer, before the demo even came out, was making excuses that it wasn't the final build of the game so give it a chance. But HOW? The game is two months away. It's not possible unless you give it another year, fire the entire team, throw away the entire premise, and start over again.
And for those who ask, it's a WWII shooter, with this 'twist' that d-day never happened and the nazis invade America.
And oddly enough, IGN seems to be supporting them. Despite what you say about IGN, they typically when doing previews are quite honest and aren't afraid to tell you if a game is worth it or not. However, in really odd fashion, the developer WROTE THEIR OWN PREVIEW.
Did anyone who has played this demo come out with anything positive about it?

Trust me, the twist is pointless, because you're still fighting nazis. Retarded nintendo 64 nazis at that.
If the level design in the demo is indicative of the level design in the game, then yeah, game over man, game over.
-Said the guy who just bought Bullet Witch (for $5 though)
I wouldn't mind it looking low budget as long as it was low budget. Charging 60 bucks for this though is pretty much laughable.
The controls were absolute baffling. Medium was so slow it was aggravating. But once you turned it to high you couldn't look anywhere specific to save your life.
The control speed was the same thing that bothered me. I like the premise (I'm a sucker for the revisionist history style games, especially WWII history), but I'm hoping the final release plays better then the demo did.

There is another WW2 based game coming out that isn't a historic shooter. You play as a spy in occupied territory, and it's an open game world, I believe. The art style has this 300 vibe to it. I remember some screenshots black and white, with blood and the Nazi flags in color. Does anyone remember the name of this game? It looked really awesome, but I can't remember the damn name. I think Resistance was in the title, but I can't be sure.
Saboteur? I think that's it, but there's another title that has some strong similarities. I forget its name.
Anyway, Saboteur looks awesome
Yes, that's it! I just went through a complete page of release dates at IGN looking for the title. There's Saboteur, which is made by Pandemic Studios, the team behind Mercenaries. Pandemic is awesome, so this will be awesome.
Pandemic, the makers of military infused titles such as Full Spectrum Warrior and Mercenaries, is stepping up to the challenge with their upcoming title, Saboteur. However, the main character of the game is not a soldier or a gun for hire; instead, he's an average everyday Joe thrust into extraordinary circumstances and a quest for revenge. Based off the real life actions of William Grover-Williams, a Bugatti racer who joined the SOE and French Resistance after the Nazis occupied France, Saboteur will combine the open world environments that Pandemic has become known for with stealth action gameplay to create a new World War II experience. While players won't level Paris or its surrounding suburbs, there will be plenty of large explosions from detonated railways, zepplins and other Nazi targets to satisfy action fans.
Screenshots!
AND then there's Sabotage.
Developed by the German team Replay Studios, Sabotage features Resistance fighter and MI6 agent Violette Summer (based on the real historic Violette Szabo), who has to infiltrate German military camps in France, Poland and Germany during the war and sabotage them, kill high Nazi officers, rescue civilian hostages or solve other missions for the war effort. The game uses lighting and control design to focus on suspense and silent action more than on ravishing gunfire and devastating grenade action -- that is also possible for the player if they want to open fire, but it's not always the best solution to a situation.
There's not much known about this one. The preview and release date says it was released in 2006 in Germany. A US release date says late 2008. It doesn't look open ended like Saboteur, though. I'll stick to looking forward to Pandemic's game.
I wish I'd kept the quote from someone on here, where they were using games to describe actions, like having to 'Metal Gear' around to avoid being seen, or going to the bathroom for an 'Hour of Victory'.
Such an apt description.
I'm sorry, what?

Worst looking game with Unreal Engine ever? Yes. Also, it seemed like you were swimming in soup the whole time. And the whole "Escape the building" part became a series of pratfalls pretty quick. Good god. So silly, so terrible. My favorite part is that not three minutes into their invasion of New York, the Nazis are going all-out to kill a fucking lightly armed construction worker. And failing.
Not that this demo was much better. Why does it seem lately that the cooler a concept gets, the shittier the game is?
What an appropriate name.
I chuckled heartily at this.
Off topic but I fucking love The Club demo. I am not sure what people were expecting from the game but it hit all my sweet spots. A buddy and I spent about 2 hours on Saturday passing the controller back and forth until we had beat all 3 difficulties and had a fantastic time. Day 1 purchase for me.
Someone compared it to Mercs in Resident Evil. If you like Mercs, hell yes, buy it.
I hate Mercs.
That would be me.
We've got a thread on it here. People should check it out.
Hell, I tried Hour of Victory..
When the graphics were compared to an early PS2 title, I expected something like this. This may not be Gears of War here, but it's hardly eye damaging.
And I think the 'twist' is actually kind of neat. 1940s/50s (since it seems like this takes place after WWII) New York City is a far more interesting game setting than 1940s bum-fuck nowhere (most WWII games).
Not that it's without faults however. I agree with complaints about the controls. It felt kind of floaty, and when the game prompted me to press 'A' to climb the cinderblock pile, it took me nearly a minute to make the short hop up to the platform so I could get to the pile.
Biggest problem, and what had me gripping the controller in rage? It does NOT take 24 bullets to kill a wounded German. This I can promise you. I'm looking at you guy-in-the-hotel(?)-hallway.
Edit: And The Club is awsomest.
But really, wow. This looks like a game a couple months into development. The environments are criminal, models less so. I will say that I enjoyed the idea of New York falling all around you while you fight it out in the streets Freedom Fighters style, but the execution was so terrible I just couldn't help but laugh.
What I can't figure out is why this demo is 1.6 fucking gigs in size. It's like 10 minutes long and has some of the ugliest textures I've ever seen in a 360 game. Devil May Cry 4 is 600MB for Christ's sake.
