I'm looking to buy another pair of in-ear headphones under $100. My old ones, the Bose TriPort IE, ended up having the rubber casing breaking and exposing the wires. The sound quality was great, a huge step from the Apple stock earbuds. I called their support, they offered to replace them with a brand new pair for $50. I turned them down, knowing that the new headphones would only last a year.
Because I tend to fall asleep with my headphones still on, the durability of the earphones is very important. My old Bose earphones only lasted a year before giving out. After the first month, the wires were already getting very tangled and bent out of shape whereas my old Apple earbuds lasted for 3 years. I think this was due to the fact that the Bose earphones had rubber tubing.
I liked that the Bose Triports had different size buds and were comfortable enough to wear for an hour or two.
TLDR; Need a recommendation for in-ear headphones under $100 that have great sound quality while being durable enough for a person who sleeps with them on.
These are the one's I'm currently using. I'm on my second pair, but the dog chewed the cord on the first pair. They have an excellent sound and I can wear them pretty much indefinitely. I've never slept with them in, but I run, bike and box with them in and they work great for me. Get them online if you decide to go with them cause they're typically $60-$70 in Best Buy\Circuit City but under $40 on Amazon.
I should add that after 2 year of using these mainly for exercise, the little silicone earbuds are starting to wear out a bit...I'm finding that the right one in particular stays in my ear when I remove the headphones. Likely just wear & tear and I haven't really looked into getting them replaced yet, but while bringing up that link, I saw replacements available for $3.
A decent pair, but tend to fail after about 12 months of use. Seems to be related to wire storage, as the buds come with a tool to wind up the chords. Not using the tool for storage may increase longevity.
The company does offer an extended warranty that I'd recommend.
I would avoid Skullcandy and Bose. Both brands are way overpriced for the sound quality you get (Bose especially). Not to say that their phones sound bad, just that you can do better for the price.
Oh yeah, I've heard the V-Modas have build quality issues. ymmv.
Proto on

took out her barrettes and her hair spilled out like rootbeer
I just got a pair of Sennheiser headphones and they're fantastic. I was recommended them by the forums, and I'm very happy. I use them for games and for music, super clear sound and very solid feeling.

That's a good price.
Have a look at Ultimate Ears as well.
