So somehow or other I got some sort of malware that causes blank IE popups to, well, pop up at least once every couple of pages loaded (well, 8/10 theyre blank, other times they have ebay searches on something ive searched for or something in them)
i have searched all over the fucking internet for a way to actually solve this problem, and it seems like a lot of people have had the problem and very few have been able to successfully get rid of it, and all methods given are completely different and EXTREMELY complicated.
aside from wiping windows clean (which i REALLY dont feel like doing since ive spent the past week partitioning my macbook to get windows xp pro running properly in my free time and i'll kill myself if i have to do it again), is there a good, sound way of doing this?
have any one of you guys run into this and been able to rid yourself of it?
oh and if it helps, i have Adaware, Spybot, and Avast! Antivirus installed, and I have also tried ComboFix to no avail.

Firefox is my preference...If that's not an option though, you may need to try some of those more complex fixes you saw, Hijackthis can help in certain situations like this, but you can screw up your system if you're not sure what you're doing.
And it may be a step in the wrong direction, but I think the Google toolbar has a popup blocker for IE...I'm not really up to date on IE anymore.
run spyware/malware/virus scans.
Get Firefox.
The updated version of IE6 does indeed block almost all pop-ups. You're either unpatched or visiting websites that have tons of ad popups. Of course, assuming you've fully scanned your computer. Tinker with the preferences in IE and see if something is turned off.
