I was wondering if you guys knew of any sites that give you the entire story of a certain video game. I tried to use a little google magic, but failed.
Basically my ENG204 class is having me re-write a story or "retell" a story. However, I can't seem to find any sites that give me the story that I need (she needs a copy of the story if she doesn't know it). I'd prefer to have a game that I've played, which is a lot, but really any will do.
I was looking for a site that had the entire story of FF7 or really any of the FF games. But I don't think anyone's spent the time to write the story of the game on a website. But if anyone knows where to look, that would be awesome!
I might recommend checking out the FAQs section of the game you have in mind at Gamefaqs as they often have full transcripts under the 'In Depth FAQs' section. You could submit that and say you're retelling a screenplay.
I'd advise against retelling a video game story, since most of them look like shit on paper. But if you're just going for the mindfuck, try telling the story of Final Fantasy Tactics. Bonus points for "Blame yourself or God."
I don't know HtR-Laser... After reading through the FFVII story in wikipedia I can turn that around and have AVALANCHE be the game's bad people and Sephiroth be the good guy.
But yeah, FFT would be awesome.
(RE is going to be my backup plan subedii... Since I'm a HUGE zombie/CAPCOM whore)

Awesome. If you don't work in "Jill Sandwich" somewhere, I won't let you off the hook!
I'd actually recommend against games at all. Videogames are not a very good literary vehicle. Even the shittiest paperback will be able to tell a story better than a videogame.

Unless the game in question is Portal or Planescape: Torment or Silent Hill 2.

She's not really grading on a "good paper" scale. She's looking to see if I can retell the story and keep certain elements in it. I know generally it's a bad idea to go with a video game for something like this... But she wanted us to come up with a story that we remember from our childhood... And well, I don't remember any stories that aren't video game related.

Fail.
Thanks for that intelligent retort. Games are primarily designed to have challenges, rewards, goals and be fun. Storytelling is not their primary function and hopefully never will be.

People that want to kill you are fucking with your head through disinformation. Someone has been lying to you and doing so well that you don't know what is real. So just stand firm and kill the enemy that appears in front of you and move ahead.
Actually, I say, give your teacher Homeworld or if you really feel bold, System Shock 2.
NO, FALLOUT 2!
"Rain became a pornstar and banged Mr. Bishop's wife and had a conversation about her (Mrs. Bishop) past and how if she (Rain) 'fixed' the safe, Mr. Bishop would in for a big surprise.

Then Rain's car disappeared forever"
FO2 would be amazing! But it would be more of a graphic novel than a "retelling" haha.

What if the paperback was based on a videogame?
Point in case: Baldur's Gate IIs novel.
Haven't read that one, but I did read the novelization of the old gold-box game "Pools of Darkness". Reading that book taught me the real meaning of pain and suffering.

if people were as short sighted as you are, no medium would ever advance.
Movies would still be about film eye, not about telling stories.

Hey don't knock "Men building wall"
Or its more popular cousin "Workers exiting the factory", the smash hit of the season.

Wow, how do you respond to this? Indigo Prophecy perhaps? That game alone was all about the story, not much in the way of challenges and forth. Your reward was to watch the story. Amazing game, which someone mentioned in this thread previously. In fact, I play most games for the story alone. The gameplay can be very bad, and I will still play the game for it's story. This is the kind of crap I expect to hear on Fox News with them saying stuff like, "Video games have stories? I thought you just shot people in the face over and over."
While I don't agree that games are always worse then books, but in general, games have shitty plots. Most have crap story-telling too.
The few rare exceptions are lauded because they rise above the filth, but even those aren't anything stellar. Their usually decent compared to a book.
But then again, as an interactive medium, games are a whole different deal from books. You can do alot with a very simple plot if you do good presentation in a game.

Haha, I thought about it. But I'm sure she won't be able to finish it in time.
(It'd be cruel if I gave her a copy of Persona 3 to play... I'd never be able to turn in my paper.)
It's not terribly detailed, but at least it's a start.
edit: chamberlain you're a godsend!!!
You'll be guaranteed a good grade when she can't figure out what the hell is going on, and just has to assume you did well.
MGS2 plot summary. Have fun.
In seventh grade, I remember we had to make up our own story. My favorite game at the time? Tomb Raider.
My teacher thought I had some very interesting characters with Lara Croft and Jacqueline Natla.
starmnabrand -> I think it'll be enough. I sent her an email with the link, hopefully she'll OK it.

So that's what I chose to do.
Make the last line "A Man Chooses, A Slave Obeys."

Personally, I loved "Sneeze caught on film"
One of my film studies courses did this last week
Thanks Ebert.
How about like "Kid with the hose" or maybe it was the dude with the hose. Anyways you know the one I'm talking about.
I think that's my favorite Lumieres film.
