It's been a long ass time since I've posted here, not that I posted much when I was posting. To put it bluntly, I'm here for the awesome game naming collective knowledge that the PA forums offer. The search function wasn't really working for me, and I browsed the first 4-5 pages for similar threads but only found the "Name that game" thread on music.
The first game was an educational game where you played a virus hunter that had to hunt down a computer virus, I believe it was called Math Ace, but Google returns nothing and I've yet to find a single article/blog/site/blah to even mention the game. The premise of the game was simple math (I think it stopped at basic pre-algebra, if that) based puzzles, you had to contest the virus for pieces of the motherboard, winning or losing the challenges would hinder the virus and the eggs it layed.
I had Windows 3.11 at the time, though I recall having to boot straight to DOS to play this game as I had to really strain to max out the available memory to run this fairly new game. Math Ace I recall being a CD that I borrowed from my friend across the street.
The second game I remember being called "TAC: Tactical Air Command," but all I seem to find is "ATAC: Advanced Tactical Air Command" by MicroProse and that is NOT the game. I picked up the shareware version of TAC off of a BBS back in like 1994 or so, and I recall playing it in Windows 3.11. This game was a military simulation with a top down view of the battlefield and you could give commands to all of the units, such as this tank should move here but beyond giving orders, you couldn't control them. The airplanes you could control directly on the battlefield, or set them to waypoints. If one of your airplanes encountered an enemy it would zoom in and you could then fire your weapons, etc.
Any help would be appreciated, I have an insane amount of nostalgia for both of these games, though I'm sure they sound fairly boring from my descriptions.
