Hate: My video card seems to have given up on me. (I normally see between 40 and 60 fps in Shattrath, right now my computer is giving me 5 fps while flying alone between Theramore and Gadgetzan.)

Hope: Being in a new guild means a chance to do Kara and ZA again! Maybe even 25-man stuff in the future!

Not-So-Happy: I miss my old guild :( . It was my baby, and I left it.

Fucking Hilarious: The guild leader of this new guild has wanted me to join for months now as well as the rest of my old guild (he used to be a member of ours). Most of my guild joined him, but the awesome-est Ret pally I know and myself refused to join unless he made the guild tabard fruity enough to warrant Ironforge stopping hilarity. The old tabard was a white sword and shield icon with white linked border on a blood red background. Too boring, not gay enough. So now, thanks to my design, the serious sounding guild <Vanquish> runs around like this:

Hope: Free transfers to my dead servers please!

Hate: Seeing my best friend recruited as a tank for a 4/6SSC 3/4 TK guild and benched every run. What was the point of recruiting him if the tanks have 100% attendance and when one is missing they just call it off. Oh, hate because he left our last guild to be in this one.

Happy: Nethervoid cloak is mine. Unbelievably, the floodgates have opened on Nethervoid cloaks, with five dropping in the last three nights we raided Hyjal (tonight being just Azgalor's trash, we wiped on him yesterday because Thrall and his buddies were too awesome on the Doomguard DPS and rushed Azgalor, leading to lots of parries and a dead tank). The last cloak went to a holy priest because we ran out of dpsers to give them to.

Hate: Ended the night on a 1% wipe to Naj'entus. I mean, our first kill happened with 22 people and time to spare on the enrage timer, and we've killed him without consumables before, so I just don't get how a flasked 25 man raid is losing to his enrage timer. Actually, I do know - clothies and resto druids are dying on contact to the impaling spine like 80% of the time even after "stacking stam."

Back to Happy: Druid alt dinged 68 and learned flight form.

Back to Hate: I want to save at least part of Blade's Edge and all of Netherstorm and Shadowmoon for 70, so I've got to grind ogres to level up now that I'm out of quests in Nagrand. Since my druid is an enchanter, I'm going with the Bloodmaul Geomancers for the bracer enchant instead of my usual Nagrand ogres. God that grind is so stupid. If I didn't have to kill thousands of ogres anyhow, I would have quit it in disgust after that first three hour session.

My only problem with the fight is that it is so epic that once you get everyone key'd, it's hard to go back. One mistake means you've wasted twenty minutes. One mistake could mean clearing more awful trash. I really, really like the Vashj fight because theres is nothing but Vashj. No trash, no annoying respawns, nothing that makes a wipe as painful as a Kael wipe is (except for the run back).

I'm partial to the ogres, actually. They're easy kills and I can survive pulling two or three without having to resort to anything drastic. Clearing out manaforges (since my druid is a scryer) would be a lot more difficult (or at least have a lot more downtime) due to mob levels, patrolling elites, higher concentration of ranged mobs, etc.

And like I said, for grinding it out, it's going to be ogres, either the Geomancers and Skirmishers, or Nagrand ogres for Kurenai/Consortium rep. Since neither Kurenai nor Consortium is a high priority for me, I'll stick to what I'm doing, it's a change up from clearing out Southwind Cleft for hours upon end, and less likely to be so crowded (I did get a few visitors to the Bloodmaul Outpost, but my willingness to multi-pull mobs and moonfire geomancers on sight discouraged competition).

Is there any leather or paladin plate that is any good to begin with? An alarmingly high percentage of what we shard in BT and Hyjal is leather that the rogues don't want and the ferals already have, or spell damge/healing plate that the Paladins don't want.

I dunno, the leather has been sharded since almost the beginning (like you said, druids or shamans take it for off spec sometimes). I don't think we've seen much healing plate except something from Naj'entus that they seem to want.

Hate I Forgot: Constantly being out-damaged by arcane mages. Yet they still have the fucking balls to complain about their mana inefficiency and how warlocks are so much better and blah blah. Fuck them. It doesn't matter that they "can't function without a shadow priest QQQQQ" because they always HAVE a shadow priest, and often a shaman, while more often than not warlocks get stuck in whatever group has an empty spot. And even when we do get a shadow priest/shaman/BM hunter, I still rarely beat them. My spec is "stand still and cast shadowbolt," I can't really do much more than I currently do, so I guess mages are just better. Yet if you ask THEM.....

We're farming Archimonde, my gear is fine. The thing that's frustrating really is that when we were mid-SSC and I switched to 21/40 to save debuff slots, I was constantly top 3 on the meters, but then everyone else caught up. I might try putting Immolate back in. It could be a small personal DPS increase, but I dropped it since we never have the fire mage debuff or CoE, and shadowbolt spam = more ISB uptime, which should be better overall. Meh.

To respond from something from the tail-end of the previous thread:
Exactly! Currently the best Ret gear I can get is season 1 stuff, and it's not even the best really. I can't arena because everyone in my guild has this half baked idea in their head that "ret sucks balls". And it's sad that it comes from a shadow priest.

Which leads me to think: Why can't ret get the same amount of loving that shadowpriests got? I want more raid viability dammit! Because someone from my guild said, "Theres no way we'd take a ret paladin when we can just grab a rogue or a warrior". It's shit like that that just wrecks my mind and spirit.

I think ret paladins have good raid viability - I'd absolutely adore to have one in one of my raids - but due to preconceptions I don't think many guilds have thought through the potential a good ret pally opens up. Certainly, the old version of Sanctuary Aura alone would have added great viability (particularly paired with a prot pally tank such as myself), but that got nerfed out of existence.

The factor I think many, many guilds don't take into account is the usefulness of judgements. We'll frequently have two judgements up on a boss - generally imp crusader and wisdom - from our prot pallies whether or not they're tanking, and managing to get a third up and staying up would be awesome, particularly if then it was constantly up thanks to crusader strike.

... yet it seems that loads of guilds just don't see the awesome in rogues healing themselves by doing damage. Ah, well. I'm working on mine. The downside to all this, though, is that wretched 'finding a COMPETENT ret pally' stage. I'm still working on that one.

(Although I have to say I don't like the shift away from spell damage, not least because it's caused the problem you detail but also because it means that it feels overwhelmingly that there's now no real distinction in gear terms between an arms warrior and a ret pally. Spell damage -> AP strikes me as making a lot more sense)

Yep. ~25 minutes and 648 honor just about every time.

They could have buffed Balinda a lot more and it really wouldn't have changed our winning. In addition, Blizz buffing Vann did nothing for our strategy; we never even kill him.
