Limiting time on the internet

Well, not for me but for a friend of mine.

Her sister is spending too much time behind her computer (the friends computer) and she wants to limit the time she can spend on the internet. I'm looking for a little proggie (preferrably free) that sort of works like a timer that starts ticking the moment her sister logs on to the account and will cut the connection when the time is up and if possible, keeps it closed for the remainder of that day if possible.

Is there anyone who has any idea where I can find something like this?

That's free and seems to be flexible enough to do what you want it to do.

Yea, I'm going to agree with Apex. If it's your friend's computer, why doesn't your friend just tell her to get off the computer when she wants to use it or otherwise make clear to her sister for how long she can be on it at any one given time?

Well going from the information given, the girl's sister is probably a Child , so sometimes you have to use disciplinary tools to get them to fall in line. I might suggest that the girl let her parents know about the situation if she hasn't done so.

Ah, I should have said this in my first post...

The friend in question lives in her own apartment and her adult sister spends hours (eight full hours today) behind her computer every day and leaves her trash where ever she drops it. Even if she chips in for the cost of the internet connection spending that much time behind a computer just isn't healthy.

I also suggested talking to her first instead and only use what I'm looking for as a last resort. I know she tried to talk to her about it in the past and it didn't help back then so I'm not sure if it will now to be honest.

Windows SteadyState, free from Microsoft, does allow for session timers with forced logoffs, but I don't think it can prevent the user from logging back in without other settings. We use it at work all the time for public workstations to help keep the system pristine (you can set it to restore all system changes after every reboot, yet still keep stuff like Windows updates). Still, it's worth looking at, and it's free.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
