Blue Tongue

Yeah, pretty straight forward really. I just noticed that my tongue has gone blue. Last night I had a pretty unsettled stomach but I've been completely fine today and definitely haven't eaten/drank anything blue.

Should I be worried about this?

Are your lips still normal colored?

Yeah, it's just my tongue that's changed.

You take any Pepto Bismol last night? It turns your tongue dark blue/black.

So, no dark foods, no pepto.

Yeah, I'd mosey on down to your nearest medical professional. Edit: Today, if possible.

Yeah, best check with a doctor. Better safe than sorry. Doesn't sound like an emergency room thing, but call up your local urgent care and see if they think you should come in.

Does your tongue hurt? Is there any pressure? Did you have heartburn the previous night?

Do you use mouthwash? It can upset the natural balance of bacteria in your mouth, especially if you eat food shortly after; and sometimes this will result in a dark tongue (though most people would describe it as purple or black, not blue).

Are your gums blue too? Fingernails? Are they any color other than pink? Any of those things could be a sign of either blood circulation problems or low levels of oxygen. If it's none of those, if it doesn't come off from a good scrubbing with a toothbrush I'd go see a doctor anyway.
