I've got an old, first gen Xbox that's been sitting around collecting dust since the 360 came out. Got this hunk of plastic the day the originals were released.
What can I do with it? I don't want a linux computer, I don't want a media center (I've got a laptop connected to the only TV I own that does my media stuff)... I've been drooling over those Xbox 360 gone laptop posts, but I don't think I have the technical know-how to pull that one off.
Mostly, I'm a bored geek trying to figure out something to do with this thing to get the last little bit of entertainment I can out of it.
Hollow it out and build a house from it. olol original xbox is hueg.
Uhm...honestly I dunno. You don't want a media center or linux and those seem to be the only, er, legitimate things people have found to do with it. Search youtube perhaps? Maybe someone else did something creative with his Xbox and posted a video.

Any ideas?
I know you don't want a media center, but you should really check into XBMC on wikipedia or something. It'll wipe the floor with most inexpensive setups, and has a really excellent upscaling algorithm.
Other than that, there are other uses, but we can't really discuss them here.
A friend of mine put a modchip in his xbox along with a bigger hard drive and uses it as a network drive around his house, though you aren't looking for such its also hooked up to his tv so he uses it as a media center.
Short of donating it, the only thing you can really do with it at all -is- turn it into a Linux computer. You can do this with zero illegal-hardware buying - all you need is a free IDE hookup on your computer and some patience.
I'm still pushing SuperMarioWar (although there's a pc port nowt beats sitting round with four pads playing it). I've probably had as much fun with this and friends round as I had with Smash Bros.
There. I said it.
Other than that, there is some interesting homebrew doing the rounds but most of this is linux related. There's also the non-mentionable on this site stuff you can do with it, but the legality is dubious at best. It DOES (And I think this is allowable) run a very good Scumm VM emulator. I enjoyed playing through Sam and Max and Day of the Tentacle on my TV.
One of my friends converted his to play old arcade game in the MIME format. It's a hard drive/software mod so you probably won't want to sign onto Live with it anymore.

...For an airplane hanger?
This.
Uhh, is an xbox the kind of thing you can donate to Child's Play? If not that, then Good Will or Boys and Girls clubs or something of the like.
Games: CoD4, Halo 3

Only thing I could think of as well.
Electronic composer for hire.
Child's Play is new only, I think. No used stuff.
Awesome game.
