My friend's laptop recently got virused to all hell. I messed with it a little, but it has a celeron, and combined with whatever is going on in there, its about a 20 minute startup and just clicking the start menu takes a few minutes(actually takes minutes, we would set it down and watch the game while we waited for a response). I have an adapter that lets you plug the laptop hard drive into a desktop.
My question is this:
Is it safe to plug the laptop hard drive into my desktop so I can run virus scans/try to fix it and grab any personal files he has? Could the virus spread to my desktop hard drive when its connected?

Best option would be to boot the laptop to safe mode and run the virus scan there.
