Although this may end up becoming something that we will regret later, my girlfriend and I have decided to try out WoW together. I have never played the game before, but have played a few other MMORPGs in the past (EverQuest for a few years, way back when). So I feel confident that I know we will do fine in regards to preventing ourselves from becoming slaves to the game because of that, but also because I simply do not see it within her personality to get that away.
Anyway, I am really going off topic with that one. My question is: We have DSL here in our apartment, and run it through a Linksys router, thereby connecting both of our computers (novel concept, eh?). Will the fact that her and I are both playing on the same network have any adverse effects on our ability to play?
Nope. My wife and I have the same setup. It's really no different than using any other Internet application. Aside from things like making sure all the correct ports are open in order to download the latest patch, the fact that you're both behind a router shouldn't have any effect.
I run two PCs running 2 wow accounts on my cable connection over a linksys router and there's no noticible lag for us. The only thing I've seen it affect is torrents will slow you down a bit and if you run wireless, its' tough to stream to a media center extender (360) while wowing. Too much network congestion

I'm sometimes grumpy and random, feel free to overlook the strange man in the corner.
Yeah, you can run multiple WoWs on one computer with no problem, so 2 on 2 with any reasonable router + connection will be fine.
Patching can be a bitch though, because I know on one of the patches they had, the last 5-10% would go super slow and lag anyone trying to play at the time. We run 3-5 simultaneously WoWs at my house on a 3.0 DSL just fine.

I thought the same thing. Boy was I wrong... Very wrong.

Like if my wife and I wanted to play together could we both do it off my account, or would she need a separate account?
My advice is to download the patches anywhere OTHER THAN blizzard updater and use them to patch both computers.
You need two accounts; when another person (or malicious hacker beast) logs into your account, it will kick you off.
