Is there an adapter that lets you plug in your gamecube controller into the wiimote like the classic controller? This would replace the dead wavebird problem for smash bros I'm going to have in a month. It really shouldn't be that hard. Hell, the classic remote has more buttons than the gamecube controller anyway. To be honest, I'm not really sure why nintendo didn't make these to begin with and not include gamecube ports on the wii. It would of cut down on size and the Wii would have been even cheaper than it already is.
When running a Gamecube game, the Wii thinks that it's a Gamecube. It probably can't even see that the Wiimotes are there, and wouldn't know what the hell to do with them if it could see them.

yes, true, but smash bros brawl is a wii game...
I think his point was that they'd still have needed Gamecube ports on the Wii itself, so the Wii wouldn't have been any smaller/cheaper.
I don't believe there are any adapters, and it would probably not be trivial to make one, considering the standard GC controller has rumble and the Wii remote probably can't provide the required juice. I'm not an electrical engineer so I don't know what the consequences of that are...but in any case the demand probably just isn't there since the Wii already has GC ports.
Suck it up and buy a Classic Controller - they're not terribly expensive, and at least you feel like you get your money's worth compared to paying the same price for an extra Nunchuk.

Yes, and there are ports right on the top of the system if you want to use a cube controller.
Is the problem just that you want to use a GC controller but the system is too far away? Well, that's a shame, but tough cookies. Buy a wavebird or move closer if you need to use a controller. Or buy an extension cable.

So let me get this straight...
I don't really follow you on your wording of "Dead Wavebird Problem", but I see multiple solutions.
1) Go out and buy a damned wired controller. The cable on them is like 6 feet. If that's not long enough, many, many extension cables exist. (Cost: $20)
2) If you truely need wireless, and you cannot find a Wavebird, many third parties make GC pads that are wireless. Many of these are still in stores. (Cost $15-25)
3) Suck it up and just play Brawl with one of the other three control schemes. (FREE! - $20)
Edit: If the classic controller "Has more buttons anyway" why don't you just use that?
TL;DR: Stop whining and just come up with an alternate solution.
