This week, players can experience a strategy game like no other on Xbox LIVE Arcade when Sierra Online and SouthEnd Interactive launch "Commanders: Attack of the Genos." Additionally, an arcade classic returns with "Discs of Tron" from Disney Interactive Studios and Backbone Entertainment, an updated faithful recreation of the famed cabinet game with HD graphics and enhanced sound. Both "Commanders: Attack of the Genos" and "Discs of Tron" launch this Wednesday, February 13 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (1:00 a.m. PST).
"Commanders: Attack of the Genos" is a fast-paced turn-based strategy game featuring an art deco look and tongue-in-cheek storyline. The game requires players to devise a masterful tactical battle strategy to both cripple the enemy and defend their territory from genos, a genetically modified super race. Fight alongside a powerful Commander, which serves as a hero unit, in the 15-mission campaign with an arsenal of weapons including missile launchers, bombers and infantry in this turn-based strategy game.
Featuring a 1930's art deco look and feel, "Commanders: Attack of the Genos" offers two unique endings, two difficulty levels and 15 diverse playable units to keep gamers coming back for more. "Commanders: Attack of the Genos" allows players to either challenge or team up with three friends in battle locally or over Xbox LIVE. The game will be available worldwide (with the exception of Japan and Korea) for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E10+ by the ESRB.

In "Disc of Tron," gamers play as Tron in an attempt to defeat the evil Sark in an electronic battleground, using the iconic disc weapon. Survive 12 levels of Sark's attacks in the single-player campaign or grab a friend and face off in multiplayer mode over Xbox LIVE to discover the true disc champion.
Releasing simultaneously with "Discs of Tron" is downloadable content consisting of a theme and gamer pic pack, which contains images of Tron, a red soldier and the disc platforms from the game. "Discs of Tron" will be available worldwide (with the exception of Japan and Korea) for 400 Microsoft Points and is rated "E" for Everyone by the ESRB.

I'm hoping it's an Advanced Wars "Light" type thing ... if it's more in depth I'm going to be a happy camper. The main Xbox site say's:
4 players multiplayer turn based fun? Yes please!

Again though, something that I posted in the Rez thread, I really wish MS would give their Live Arcade releases more publicity. These come out on Wednesday, and the first I've heard about them is today, just a couple of days in advance. Unless you're actively seeking out the information, you're not going to know anything apart from maybe a different banner ad on your dashboard when you next sign in. Having seen some estimated sales figures for XBLA titles (and some of them seemed remarkably low), I really think they should work harder to promote upcoming titles and get more sales. Obviously there's a cost/rewards balance, but there's got to be more they can do.
I didn't know it till my dashboard told me, but Sid Meier's Pirates!, Black, and Ninja Gaiden Black were released today. That is excellent news for someone like me who can't find NGB. Downloading now.
EDIT: 5.9 GIGS?! HOLY SHIT?!@#$
I wonder if the 4 player allows for single console matches?
edit: sure I can edit in the originals -- I'm at work right now but when I get home ...

It's 9:29 and it's only 31% complete.
Also, how is Tron?
Steam ID : rwb36, Twitter : Werezompire,
Just posted about the Gripshift thing too.
I didn't enjoy the title but I like seeing beefy expansion packs for any game at small prices. Bodes well for games I DO enjoy.
Apparently shit. IGN says the game really suffers from the lack of the arcade version's spinning knob, and that the Live version stars mumbly old Ozzy Osbourne as Sark. The hell?! Anyway, they gave it 3/10.

On first appearance it looks like a mesh of Massive Assault and Advance Wars, which could prove fun. Depends on how deep the rabbit hole goes though, I suppose.
Yes, you can play 4 players on one console.
The demo gives you a good idea of what it's like.
In summation, best replayable, long-term Live title available. Yeah, N+ is good, so was TMNT arcade, etc., but they go away. This is the kind of game you could play with your friends 2 years from now and remember how their playstyle (a la Smash Bros. or console FPS).
Even if not much multiplayer, I'd still get it. It's awesome and underrated. And yeah, a lot like Advance Wars.
Haven't played competitive yet, but I imagine it's a contest between rushing and massive artillery, with the size of the map as the main determining factor.
