Periodic Blackout on the 360

For some reason, and this has only happened in the last few weeks, my 360 will periodically blackout it's image for a second, then go back to whatever it was showing. It'll happen while playing a DVD and in game (most recently, Rock Band). But it only occurs for a second, and happens only about once a day even with several hours of DVD watching.

Any idea what the issue is?

I would eliminate the TV as a possible cause.

Play the 360 on a different TV for a while and see if it shows up there.

Overheating might be a possibility, has your box got room to breathe?

I think it does, but admittedly it doesn't have as much space as it used to. I think I am going to move some more things around. This had no trouble prior to my purchase of a new entertainment center (http://www.target.com/Uptown-TV-Stand-Espresso/dp/B000LBF7FG/qid=1202621114/ref=br_1_5/601-9906535-2304136?ie=UTF8&node=12277801&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1)

The 360 is sitting on the upper left little compartment, which was actually the featured configuration on the box.

Mine does this too, but it's also red-ringed with some weird error that I didn't bother to read (whoops). I've also gotten disc read errors. To me, this sounds like your DVD drive is flaking.

It's just because you've essentially confirmed my greatest fears.

Make sure it isn't the TV first. Sounds like it's most likely to be a dodgy cable/socket rather than the box itself - if the DVD drive was buggered, you'd still be able to have the Guide up, etc - maybe try leaving something at the laod screen with the Guide up and see if it cuts out.
