Basically I've read one maybe two comic books/graphic novels in my 19 years. But when Firefly, a show I watched when it was actually on television, loved and lost, is going to have a graphic novel series I definitely perked my ears. Now that it will be arriving soon I don't want it to be the first graphic novel that I read so that I can, you know, understand it. Can somebody reference some similar graphic novels so that I can at least be acquainted with the way they read and work?
I don't really understand. You like Firefly, so it seems logical that the Firefly comic be the first thing you read. There isn't really a whole lot to "understand" about reading a comic book.
You read the words and enjoy the pretty pictures. Theres no secret decoder ring that you get if you've read enough.
If you're only really interested in Firefly and Lost then by all means read only those. If you're not interested in reading about Superheroes then by all means don't read about Superman or Spiderman.
If you are really worried about "understanding" the format, check out "understanding comics" by... that guy...
But really, you should pick that stuff up just fine.
