    And Act on Instinct

I too still play RA2YR and TS FS quite a bit. Maybe a Hamachi powered GO is in order soon? (I'm shit, though)

This is the best type of news. Red Alert 2 was some of the best RTS gaming ever, and if C+C 3 means anything then an EA sequel is a good thing.

Oh man, I have so many fond memories of Red Alert 2... though as awesome as Hell March is, Act on Instinct just triggers this huge flood of nostalgia every time I hear it. The original C&C was the very first RTS I ever played.

    Cannot WAIT for RA3.

I sent an email to Frank Klepacki asking if he had been contacted to do the musical score for the game..
    Hi there!

Regarding RA3, I've heard about it just as you have, so I've not been contacted. Ultimately EA would have to ask Petroglyph to use me on it, and then it would be up to Petroglyph to allow it. If those things align, you better believe I would score that game, no question!

    Thanks for writing!

    Frank Klepacki

So it appears we must now influence the hand of fate and tell EA to contact Petroglyph and ask for advice, and hire Frank.

Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Wars rank as some of my Greatest Disappointments Ever.
I was going to ask whether to put RA2 on my backlog for single-player purposes, but I guess I won't bother. I'll just keep the nice memories of RA (what is it, 10 years old now?)

Ah, I had a friend in town who bought it and gave me his Allied CD so we could play multiplayer until I bought it for myself. This is the same friend who I used to play RA with over a modem or serial cable. :D Then TS. Then Generals. :D Only one we ever really missed out on was C&C3 so far.

This could be where they tie it all together.

    RA1 veterans may remember
Kane as a mysterious advisor appearing in the Soviet campaign

and frankly i've been wondering exactly how the shit they're going to reconcile that, but the theory is that the alternate universe in which RA takes place is one and the same with the world in which tiberium strikes.

incidentally, anyone who shits on the "APC" tank-crusher never got the chance to fill it with guardian GIs or desolators, and THEN had them promote. that thing wrecked entire divisions of apocalypse tanks.

i will be very disappointed if yuri doesn't get at least a passing mention in the next RA, too...
The thing with kane never actually happened. The story of every C&C game takes place as if the good guys won. That was the end of the Soviet Campaign, but not the real ending. It's been said before by the devs that RA and the Tib series have nothing in common.

That is just what they said after RA1 became so popular, there isn't much room for it to go if its the prequel to TD. :P

I was reading at the Petroglyph boards the other day, apparently initial plans for RA1 included Nikola Tesla functioning as the Soviet counterpart to Einstein...and with him at one point sending out a signal to call aliens (tie in to TD?).

I do wish that at some point they would do a connector...so that the Soviet ending branched into TD, and the Allied one went off on its own.
The first Red Alert was supposed to be a prequal to the C&C series, hence why Kane appeared.... After Red Alert was such a big success they decided to let it be a universe of its own seperate from the C&C series.... That's why Kane shows up at the end...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Red_Alert#Connections_to_the_Tiberian_series
On July 25th of the same year, a Command & Conquer: Renegade-themed modification for the game Crysis was officially announced by Electronic Arts, which is stated to directly link the first Red Alert game to Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn.[15]

    THAT makes me happy...

It wasn't "announced" exactly. The guy making the mod is a moderator at the official C&C boards, and was allowed to have a topic stickied pimping it for a little while. Thus it isn't canon.

Oh jesus, it looks like they amped up the navy a lot. Tesla Boats? Boats that can go from land, to water? Man this is going to be really interesting. I have to wonder though, what about Yuri? He was so fun to play! He also had the best base defense in the game. (Man I loved MC Towers + The Grinder, and the Tank Bunkers were pretty sick too.) I really hope hes a faction in the game. Even if they add in a 4th faction, and I have no idea what that faction could be, It could still be fun.

Is that 3 water buildings? One of them looks like either a power plant, or some kind of refinery... Hmm. Navy based harvesters? Maybe a 2nd resource that you build ocean buildings on? I MUST KNOW MORE!

Also, RA2 is all about being overly campy, that's why I love it so much! It was like a huge parody of the more serious nature of the Tib games.

Why should they? The games not even done yet. I'm sure that these are from an alpha build of the game.

I need to know more before I make any judgments though. it looks like any building can be put in the water. I think I see a MCV, War Factory, and Power Plant in the water in one of those screen shots. If that's true, it must mean that when you do that it allows you to build things for the water. Which could mean that there are loads of new units for the Navy.

We can already see some in the shots, Tesla Boats and Amphbious Carriors. I hope that they dont go too crazy with the water stuff, because really RA2 never had a huge focus on its navy. It was there, but it wasn't vary complex at all. Each faction had a unit that could either A) Counter Boats, B) Counter Boat Counters, or C) Attack Land for massive damge! or in the case of Yuri X) Do all that at once...

Things I hope they really dont do: Make MCVs move through water... I mean its one thing to have some one roll up to your base at the start of a match with his MCV and start building in your base. Its a whole nother thing to think your totaly land locked and have some one cross the ocean in there MCV and build on your island with out you knowing. I'm all for having a transportable MCV, but it shouldn't be doing that out of the box.

Land units hopefully are there focus with the water fetures just there for ease of use. I like the Island maps in RA2 but it was really a novalty to me. Land battles were where it was at.

A more water focussed theme makes sense with Japan being a third faction if that's true. So we would I assume be getting the pacific front, with japan finally making a move since they're still a military superpower because WW2 never happened.
