This post may technically fall under the "Help / Advice" category, but I am posting it here because I think I'm much more likely to get the kind of advice I need in G&T. If the mods think otherwise, please move it.
Also, sorry for the lack of pretty pictures in the OP, but I am posting from work so I don't have too much time to play around with this. I'll try to gussy it up later.
I'm going to be hosting a private LAN party in a few weeks, and the name of the game is
Unreal Tournament - G.O.T.Y Edition. Remember this one? The original? I spent countless hours playing this during my teenage years, mostly on a server called myUnreal, and had a blast.
So here's where I need some help: The party is expected to attract somewhere between 40 and 70 people, so I'll be running a few servers (at least 3, maybe more). The servers will be running at about 3 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM. How many players can I expect each server to support? This is the first time I've hosted an UT99 game, so I'm not sure how well the server code performs under heavy loads.
Maps: I've collected a few "large" maps from sites like map-factory, nalicity, etc, but there's a couple that I remember from the "old days" that I can't seem to find. One was a 2-forts map in a deep narrow canyon, with a large hill in the middle. The other was like two tall snowy mountains with an ice field in between. Both were CTF maps - I'm just tossing out those descriptions in case anyone remembers the names.
Otherwise, what UT99 maps would you suggest for a
large group of players (I'm thinking minimum 20 players per server)?
Cheating: I don't expect anyone to be cheating, but if there is some kind of precaution that can be taken without too much overhead, I'd like to get it set up. Are there any really good anti-cheat plug-ins for UT99 servers out there? I've seen one called
Damage Control but I have no experience with it.
Mods & other essentials: I've got the Inoxx and DE .umods, as well as BonusPack and BonusPack4. Is there anything else you would recommend?
Other than that, does anyone else even remember this game with as much nostalgia as I do?
I am the alpha and the omega!

I think those server machines should be able to run the game fine since UT net code has always been insanely well done.
I'll tell you now that you may run into issues with people being able to run it. Yes its an old school game that pretty much any computer now could run but I remember some people running into issues with the game being tied to the cpu clock or something, and having the game run at brokenly (unsync'd) high speeds or something.
sorry I'm only slightly hazy, I have hard times remembering anything longer than a few days ago. . .
edit: This also makes me long for Assault mode in TF2. That would be the best thing ever, I'm pretty sure.
