These artifacts appear when I'm playing RE4, and to a much lesser extent when I'm playing Mercury Meltdown Revolution. And that's it. No other recent games or Wii channels have given me this problem so far. Tomb Raider Anniversary and No More Heroes look fine, as does the Wii browser and other Wii channels. My video settings seem to be correct and the graphics glitch appears whether I'm using component or the standard composite cables.
When I called Nintendo, the lady I talked to suggested that if it was only a game or two, that it might not be a problem with the Wii itself, but something game related.
Have any of you ever had this problem? do I need a new Wii or am I just missing a game setting somewhere with the games themselves?
I have the same problem. It's an overheating problem with the wii. Make them suck it up and give you an RMA - my experiance was WAAAAAYYYY less hassle than returning a 360.
Although I haven't actually boxed it up and returned it yet...
Yep. It's Wii-Rot. Your graphics card is overheating. Call Nintendo up and tell them you're getting some artifacts when playing your game, and you'd like to get it repaired. It will take all of 1 week till they get it and repair it. At least, that's what happened for me and I shipped mine off in January.
