I need a sound card. My old motherboard's was fine, bit my new one is just plain shitty. Tinny bass, low fidelity and that little whisper all the time. Recommend me some good ones that are on the cheap side. Please. I'm no audiophile, but all my music sounds like complete shit.
Make sure you buy one with the proper rail size for your case, other than that have at it. Most sound cards will do the job sufficiently if you're not SUPER concerned about crazy quality or recording etc.
The Chaintech AV-710 seems to be a favorite in the audiophile community and it's only $20.

It's been so long since I've posted here, I've removed my signature since most of what I had here were broken links. Shows over, you can carry on to the next post.
Are you using the same set of speakers? Just checking, because if you got new speakers (for instance, if you bought a whole new computer pre-built and it came with speakers), it could be the speakers that are junky (in addition, or just on their own)

Indeed, I've more frequently heard of speakers being shitty than a soundcard making music sound bad.

Indeed. Not sure how I didn't think about that. You can get some decent speakers at any walmartish store for around 20 bucks too. Or get a rad pair of headphones.
