Ok, I installed Pidgin and the installation went smoothly, I needed to update something so it uninstalled the old one and installed the new one and everything seemed to be fine. But when I tried to start pidgin I got these two errors.
Pidgin.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point g_thread_gettime could not be located in the dynamic link library libglib-2.0-0.dll.
Error
Error loading pidgin.dll.
Error: (127) The specified procedure could not be found.
So anyone know what I can do? Trillian is annoying me and apparently Pidgin has everything trillian does and more stuff, so I figured Id switch. Buuuuut Im gettin the errors so yeah.
Try uninstalling it again and deleting anything that showed up in your My Documents and/or your Program Files (or wherever you installed it). Restart and reinstall and see if that helps. I haven't had this specific problem, so that may not solve it.
If you don't mind taking a while to set it up, I would recommend giving Miranda a try (www.miranda-im.org). It's got pretty much the same functionality as Pidgin but is far more customisable. The caveat is that nigh-infinite-customisability can require a whole lot of tweaking to get it to do what you want.
Your error looks a lot like this one. The fix in that thread was to reinstall GTK+, which is a collection of libraries that Pidgin uses heavily. Perhaps something changed, removed or locked your GTK+ DLLs. Install any apps recently that use GTK+ or GLib? I know the different GTK+ installers between Gimp and Pidgin have had trouble playing nice in the past. I can't seem to find a standalone GTK+ installer, most Windows apps that use GTK+ have their own install routine (which is probably part of the problem).

Ok, Im not very software savvy so most of that is just jibber jabber to me, but I did have to install a new GTK whatever thing, it came up during the installation and asked me if I wanted to install the new version and I said yeah and that seemed to go allright.
Ill go over that link when I get back from class (posting from a break at the moment) but yeah, thanks.

Well, if noone has any idea what to do to fix it by the time I get back from class I might try that miranda one.
