I just moved apartments, and figured out my DSL is scheduled to be activated on Tuesday, one day after our three day weekend
Can I expedite this or will I have to go without internet like A PEASANT!? Do they actually have to physically do something to activate it? I originally told them I was moving last Saturday, but got delayed. So keeping in mind they thought I was going Saturday, the phones were activated on Thursday(yesterday), and now the internet is scheduled for Tuesday
If they scheduled you a time, it was most likely their earliest time available that coincided with you being there, so you'll most likely have to tough it out.
I have Verizon, and while I'm happy with the actual DSL service itself 90% of the time, their customer support has been spotty. Unfortunately, the ball is not on your side of the court with this. All you can do is call and ask if you can get service sooner. Your best bet is to just stay on hold or keep calling back and stating that you need the service up and running by this weekend.

Well, with DSL in my experience they usually don't have to send a person physically to your line (unless for some reason there's a problem with the line). However, I also doubt you'll have much luck in getting them to up the activation date, though it's worth a shot. On the other hand, every time I've been given an activation date for DSL it's actually been turned on before that day, so I'd say just plug in your DSL modem and hope that the light goes green before the original date.
I used to work tech support for a DSL ISP, and for the love of god please spare them the time =(
the odds of you getting it up any sooner by harassing them are slim to none. Just watch the DSL light or equivalent on your modem, you're good to go once that's lit up.
and this isnt baised from an employee point of view, i've since quit - there's just really no point.
