I'm trying to decide between the two for 360, they're both good, but I'm a little short on Cash right now. Help please on which one I should get now?(I plan on getting both...sometime.)D:
Depends. The value of OB is ridiculous, but on the 360 it isnt the refined A game product it is on the Pc. Still amazing, but if you can id say get OB on PC instead.
If thats not possible, OB is the way to go. More value in every regard.
I don't see why you'd ever consider the Orange Box for 360 instead of PC (or even CoD4 for that matter) but Orange Box all the way. Portal alone beats CoD 4's single player and TF2 alone owns its multiplayer. Then you get all of Half-Life 2, Ep1, and Ep2. That's just ridiculous.
I'm not a PC gamer, all the comps at my house either suck or are G5 Macs, meaning the only PC games I play are Halo 1 on my Laptop or KotOR on my Mac. But thank you for helping!

Seriously, even if you're not a PC gamer, the OB games are ones which need to be played on a PC. YOu'll thank us after trying TF2.
OB is a great deal, making it a great purchase regardless.
It really depends on whether or not you want a great SP or MP experience. OB is great for SP, with HL2 and its episodes + portal. While CoD4 SP is fantastic, it cannot compete with that.
For MP, CoD4 takes it the crown. On 360, CoD4 simply has a much stronger community and a FAR superior matchmaking system. I love TF2, but finding games (without lag) is an effort in frustration.
None of my comps are up to the task of OB. There is no mac version, my laptop can barely run Halo 1, let alone the original HL2, but I would definatly go with the PC version if I had a PC that could run them.
CoD4 is the new Halo as far as multiplayer is concerned, and the single player campaign is surprisingly good if you stay away from the harder difficulties. The OB is a good deal, but it is not nearly as great multiplayer wise on the 360 as CoD is.
I don't know how much you've already played of the HL2 saga, but you might want to play the single player stuff over at a good friend of yours with a good PC, and play CoD4 at home for the multiplayer goodiness. Portal and EP1 and 2, while great, aren't that long so this is feasible.
If you don't have live gold though, I'd definitely recommend the OB.
Team Fortress 2 multiplayer utterly annihilates CoD4, at least on the PC. I suppose I should technically add the proviso that it "depends what you're looking for", but TF2 is more fun than a dozen barrels of monkeys on a pirate ship.
If you get the chance, come join us on the PA servers, you'll see what we mean.

Nope sorry, I enjoy the hell out of TF2 but the flexibility of CoD4 ass rapes TF2 in terms of replayability.
I can't see how anyone can say that the Orange Box suffers on the 360 - especially if you don't have a new machine you built in the last couple of years. HL2 looks awesome on the 360, as does everything else in the OB.
It's really not worth getting the OB for a 360. The OB suffers for it. CoD4 I haven't played, but get that instead.
Wrong.
There's no way my laptop can run OB, nor can my desktop that's about...eight years old now? And I'm not buying a new computer for one game.
So I got it for 360 and it's still fantastic. Portal works just fine, as does HL2. TF2 is better on PC, I freely admit that, 360 (so far) doesn't get all of the patches and extra maps and everything. But it's still loads of fun on 360. The community is small but I like it much more than CoD4's. A lot of people play CoD because it's the hot new thing, but people play TF2 because they want to. I've never had a 12 year old call me a fag while playing TF2 but it happens all the time on CoD.
I stopped playing CoD4 after a couple of weeks. TF2 I'm still playing after almost two months, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.
If you don't have a PC that can run OB you're fine getting it on 360. You will still have a great time.
Single-player: Get Orange Box. Portal is nothing less then the very finest bomb, and the HL2 games are great as well. TF2 is fantastic as well, but the 360 port was broken out of the box and hardly anyone plays it on 360 (PC is another story...). The sheer amount of single-player content on this disc makes it the bargain of two years.
Multiplayer: Get CoD4. CoD4's single-player campaign is fantastic, but short. Like, finish in 5 hours short. However, the multiplayer is extremely good and extremely popular, so it should keep you busy for a while.
I got the Orange Box for the PC, and it was amazing. I got the Orange Box for the 360, because I wanted to introduce my friends TF2, and was distraught. Team Fortress 2 really sucks on the 360.
So yeah, get CoD4. The multiplayer of that game will keep you entertained for the next five months easy. While portal is an amazing game, you'll be done with it in 4 hours. And half life isn't anything stellar.

You see, if you're gonna lie, at least make your lies believable.
Either that or we're getting cross-connected from an alternate universe where Live has a completely different audience.

I'm serious. Most of the time on TF2 people don't talk at all, the games are usually silent. When people do talk, though, it's about the game, planning strategy and watching each other's backs. It was the first game I played on Live and I wondered what everyone here was talking about when they went on about the people on Live. Until I played CoD4. Which is not the game's fault, I'm just saying.
I've had to mute two people on TF2, and that's because they were making gun noises or stupid shit like that, but considering all the hours I've put into that game I think that's pretty impressive. I think it's because there's such a small number of people playing TF2 on Live. They still play it because they enjoy the game, not just to fuck around.

COD4 is a good game, but yeah... OB first.

EDIT: The Orange Box should be mandatory for all gamers. Its really that good.

Is multiplayer a main buying point? CoD4
If not Orange Box.
what's the color for fail?

This man speaks truth. Because really, nothing in CoD4 can compete with Portal.

This statement makes baby Jesus cry.
I guess he hasn't played Portal.

There's no arguing with you Portalpeople.
...
You know them's fightin' words, right?
Clearly you haven't played Portal.
I think it was tears of joy, since baby Jesus was on the Portal development team.

Only if those dollars are solid gold.
Eegads stop splooging over Portal. It was good, but it was short and the replayability isn't that great.
For the record: buy portal on Steam for $20. Buy COD4 for the 360 for the great multiplayer.

Must resist urge to beat poster to a pulp...
I don't think I can do it.
