Getting rid of stains (on clothes)

So I have some kind of oil stain or something on my shirt (someone might have spilled something on it). It basically looks like a wet spot, except it's not wet. Is there any way to get rid of it besides washing the shirt (because that didn't work)?

Have you tried some stain remover? Oxy-Clean, Tide, All, they all make some sticks or liquids. Make sure there isn't any bleach, unless it's a white shirt, though. And act quickly! It may be set already, but the sooner you get it out the better.

If that doesn't work, try pre-treating it with washing up liquid (dish washing liquid), soak, and then wash as normal.

If it is some kind of oil, you may want to try a degreaser like you would use on dirty dishes. Or Oxy-Clean if you happen to have some around.
