Hello, I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good website hoster? I wouldn't mind paying, but I really just want the best value for my money spent.
Also, what are some good free website hosters? Is it possible to find one that doesn't make you include
"50mg" or "i8" (makes your site a subdomain, basically) in the address bar?
Socialism is the concrete foundation of America. Capitalism is the flimsy tin shack that sits upon it.
webfaction has an amazing package; dozens of different types of 'applications' (CherryPy, PHP, mod_python, Zope/Plone, Rails, etc) and you can install as many as you like, as well as unlimited domains.
all for 9.95/mo
Decent storage/bandwidth too I believe.

Do not feel trapped by the need to achieve anything, this way you achieve everything.
Oh, hey I'm making a game! Check it out: Dr. Weirdo!
Are you looking for straight HTML hosting? Do you need some server-side capabilities like PHP, ASP.NET, Ruby on Rails support, etc...?
Let us know so we can help with that. Some hosts will have one but not another, or support one well and another poorly.
Also, some hosts will pre-install certain modules you can use in your site, like message boards or content management systems.
Lastly, some hosts you can get for very cheap if you don't think many people will be visiting your site: you might be hosted along with dozens of other websites on the same system. But if you think many people will visit your website, you'll have to look into dedicated hosting... and as with all the prior things to think about, there are some web providers who are good at dedicated hosting and some who are bad.
