King of Fighters XII: HOLY SHIT PAGE 7 - Prettiest fighter EVER
1280x720 high-res, 60 fps, fully 2D King of Fighters with hand crafted, redrawn sprites for every character.
and it's fucking gorgeous. How, I've never really cared for Guilty Gear, and while I've loved Street Fighter, KOF has always held my heart. And today the title of the series is more true than ever before - this game is fucking gorgeous.
I'd post screenshots but they don't do it justice. Street Fighter II HD Remix just got some serious competition. Go check out the video, you'll thank me.
The detail is insane. Its really falcoon's art come to life. Its not hard to assume this is probably the most expensive game SNK's ever made by a large margin.

It'll probably go for the all the next gen consoles, if you know, they want to make money.
Unless they can magic up a few extra megabytes of framebuffer into the Wii, it probably won't go there. (Or they'll do the unthinkable and downscale their beautiful new artwork).
It sure looks awesome, but it's a shame that a) it's probably not coming to any system I own; and b) I've never really gotten into the whole KOF series (or indeed most of the SNK fighters; I've always admired them for their slick presentation but I just never really got the hang of their gameplay).

I will be all over this game KOF was always my favorite fighting series and it looks to mix the visuals of Guilty Gear with the animation of SF3 which i've always wanted.
I've been a raging KOF nerd in a pool of Street Fighter friends and I have to say I am VERY pleased. KOF started losing me after 2001. 2001 was crap. Steamy poo. 2002 was a shit ton more balanced, but then in 2003 they tried to revive the Orochi story line with new characters I didn't care about. I played XI once in a little Japanese arcade and it was alright, but I didn't have a whole lot of access to it. Then there's Maximum Impact and it's sequel. Fun little games if you don't think too hard but it lost it's appeal in about a week and a half. But XII... XII is the KOF I can bring home to mom, introduce to my friends, and have something truly special with. It looks delicious.
It'd be insane if Iori wasn't in this, especially considering it looks to be going in the direction of the older KoFs. Of course, that could change with new media, but so far it looks pretty traditional; more focused fighting, without strikers or tags or the like. Of course, this is all speculation.
If it weren't for the fact that the Neo Orochi Saga isn't finished yet, I'd go so far as to say it looks like a '94-ish Dream Match; that is, an independent game with a story. Of course, since there is a focus on Ash, it's probably the final chapter. I'd like for them to start anew, though, instead of continuing an older storyline. If anything, all the "main" KoF dudes are probably going to be there. I sincerely hope for the return of Joe Higashi, King, Andy Bogard, Leona and Yamazaki, though.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
King was in XI anyways. Leona needs to get her ass back in XII, though.
If Iori's in this I'm wondering if they'll give him a complete overhaul. Kyo's seen some pretty significant changes in both his costume and movelist over the years, but Iori's just remained... static.
Is it wrong that I've always preferred Heidern to Leona? He just always seemed so much cooler, although admittedly "Stormbringer" might've been considered a bit cheap, I would've preferred it if they removed that move and let us keep him.
As for the storyline, I almost never follow the storyline of fighting games, so I can't say I really know what the hecks going on in the soap opera of the KoF series.

Heidern is awesome, but I've got "special" feelings for Leona. They should both be in there, though. Fill this shit up to the brim with characters.

I know at least one of the games had a special "Neo Ikari" team that was Heidern/Leona/Ralf. But yeah, the Ralf-Clark duo is pretty inseperable.
Leona's shown up in artwork for the game, so I'm going to hazard a guess that she's either back on the Ikari team instead of Whip, or a single entry. I wouldn't bet against Orochi Leona showing up, either.
So (other than the Taito X2,) what platforms is this going to be on? It looks like it's got far more frames of animation per character than SF2HD.
Unless they can magic up a few extra megabytes of framebuffer into the Wii, it probably won't go there. (Or they'll do the unthinkable and downscale their beautiful new artwork).
If it's 1280x720, then the Wii is pretty much ruled out completely.
Anyway. Why do a few sites I visit call this game 2.5D?

The backgrounds might have 3D elements, but more apparent to me is the different "fight FX" they use don't look animated so it's safe to assume that these probably have some "3D" aspect to them. Probably the best place to apply that sort of thing.
This looks positively awesome. Hopefully it'll do well in the States to make a EU release, and I'll have some fighter to tide me over while Arc Sys is still fucking around with GGXX EA-style.

3 fucking years in the making.
And every single one of them worth it.

Other than that, I've been anticipating this release since they announced it way back when, and I'm x1000 more excited about it than SF4.
Anyone want to beta read a paranormal mystery novella? Here's your chance.

And yeah, I saw this before and its fucking amazing. Some of the best 2D graphics I've seen. Ever.
I am hard as a fucking rock. That was some of the most gorgeous, nah, probably THE most gorgeous 2D i've ever seen.

Hi-res K' would be pretty nice too.
It might just be me but I've always felt there was something so much more dynamic to the way the KoF series handles.
Hope "King" makes the cut for HD.

Thank god, never have I ever been so worried about a game.
My bring back vote is for Joe, and I wouldn't mind more MOTW characters, esp. if they had slightly younger versions of kim's sons and rock.

Whip should hang with K' and Kula.
