Ok here's the short of it. When I plug the controller in to my PC while my USB headset is also plugged in it distorts all sound from the head set.
So that's any sound sent from the computer, and any sounds I send from the Mic. It sounds like a robot and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I love the controller, and would like to use it for whatever, but because I also like to use Vent and Voice chat in games I can't. The issue is this distortion persists even after I unplug the controller. I have to totally restart the computer in order to get it to work right.
I'm using a CyberAcoustic USB headset. It doesn't have any drivers, it just uses the default ones windows installs.
Anyone else ever have this issue? Any idea on how I could go about fixing it?
Sounds like interference on the USB power rail (due to a lack of power, or a misbehaving usb device) to me.
Try either the headset or the controller through a powered USB hub so the headset isn't using the same power supply as the controller.
Edit: Oops.. Didn't read the bit about it persisting when the controller is unplugged. Disregard above advice, as that makes a hardware problem unlikely
