I'm playing Majora's Mask again... just finishing up the Anju and Kafei sidequest now.

I can't *wait* until somebody does this one.

Also, am I the only guy who goes through that sidequest again the three-day cycle before the final fight? It's a good way to pass the time while I wait, and of course it guarantees them a happy ending.

In Ocarina of Time, I think I know why they don't give you the bomb bag until after you get the Bomb Flowers. It's a purely gameplay reason. It gives the player an opportunity to use bombs in essentially a consequence-free environment before they're given a limited number and expected to use them with precision. Bombs aren't very easy to farm from pots and plants; they're pretty rare. With this alternative, you have an easily-accessible limitless supply that you can experiment with, get the timing down, etc. Also, there are several places that you are granted Bomb Flowers near a difficult bombing objective purely in case you run out of them. As an added bonus, the shops can all carry bombs straightaway, and don't have to worry about waiting until you are allowed to use them in order to start selling them. It's okay when they explain it, like in Wind Waker, but otherwise it just seems cruel.

Capture card should be in the mail. I just need to pick up a headset somewhere, and probably by next weekend, I should have something ready. Incidentally, the week after next is my spring break, and if I'm not going up to NY as previously planned, I should have a whole week to put towards the LP.

I usually do the Anju/Kafei quest close to the end, so it probably varies on whether I have to play through the game again after completing it. I don't know if I'll be doing a 100% in this LP, but I will be getting all the masks, so we'll get to see the story play out to the end.

At the very least, whoever does MM should get all masks and complete the Bomber's Notebook. Getting all the heart pieces isn't that important.

True that, Trus. Especially since many weapons pale in comparison to the Hookshot, a weapon I still haven't retrieved cause I can't finish the damn Light dungeon in Wind Waker. Does this dungeon and the next one count as "escort missions"?

The light dungeon is the one where you're escorting that bird thing girl right? If it is I remember that one being the better of the 2 escort dungones (both of which were just terrible)

The escort dungeons weren't terrible because they were escort.

They were terrible because they were bland, grey ugly things. What happened to the art direction I do not know.

Also, whoever thought, "I know what would be fun! Let's make the control system a song the player will have to play a hundred times to complete each dungeon puzzle!" needs to die a slow, painful death. Following my contrarian viewpoint, I preferred the Wind dungeon to the Earth dungeon. Using a song to tell a person to rotate 15 degrees at a time is substantially more annoying than the alternative, at least to me.

I never got why Medli is supposed to replace the Earth Sage and Makar the Wind Sage. Isn't that backwards?

    Yeah, I know. Wierd, eh?
Although, I suppose the previous Wind Sage, a Kokiri, had more to do with the wind than a Zora. This leads me to believe Nintendo had hammered out their Sage backstory before deciding that the Rito would be birds.

So they're trying to draw parallels between the Rito and Zora then? From the sea to the air? That sounds familiar.

On the subject of the Rito, they make absolutely no sense. Spoiled for those who haven't reached the first GIGANTIC plot twist in Windwaker.
    When your embarking on the quest to help Medli become the next earth sage and repair the master sword, it was shown that the previous earth sage was a Zora, implying heavily that the Rito evolved from the Zora. So with that line of thought, the Zora were once only limited to Zora's Domain, Lake Hylia, and Hyrule's only river. When the gods flooded Hyrule, essentially turning it into a paradise for aquatic species, the Zora evolved into the airborne folk, the Rito, thus severely limiting themselves as they were now prone to exhaustion while flying the huge distance between islands and thus in constant danger of drowning?     My OOT may be horrible failing me but;
Weren't the sages in OOT people. And if not, I am not sure the sages are linked by heredity. Much like how each Link is not related to one another each sage could be chosen in much the same fashion as each triforce holder.

I was pretty sure that most of the Links are supposed to be decendents of the same bloodline. The shield born by WW Link bears a striking resemblance to the one held by MM Link. They're not exact, but considering the craftsmanship that would be available to a small island like Outset vs. the entirety of Hyrule's finest armorers for the Hero's Shield, they're close.

Also, there is no real implication that the Sages from OoT would pass on their sagehood via heredity. Most of the OoT Sages had no clue what they were, implying that either they were appointed by a supernatural force that did not see fit to notify them, or they were completely unaware of what their ancestors did. The only precident for a hereditary lineage of Sages that's made evident is in LttP, in which Agahnim is killing the decendents of the Sages in order to do something dastardly.

In non-spoilery news, I'll try to get the next part of Minish Cap up tonight. Prepare for a bunch more plot!

I think I recall that Windwaker said that Medli was a descendant of the original sage. Also, there were no earth or wind sages in OoT.

    EDIT: beat'd...

    Also, Terrendos:
Pretty sure that when the King of Red Lions was talking to the big fish (forgot the name) that this Link has no connection to the original Link and they also made it pretty blatant that Outset Island had the shield and tunic thing on birthdays merely due to tradition.

You've got an argument for the green clothes, but the shield bears WW Link's family crest, as said by his Grandma. OoT Link is likely not his direct ancestor seeing as how he disappeared after Majora's Mask, but it's my bet there's a bloodline connection. He's certainly a Hylian, and as uncommon as those appear to be it's a pretty reasonable assumption that they're at least distant relatives.

Also, the King of Red Lions may be
    Seriously big WW spoiler
    The Last King of Hyrule
but that doesn't mean he's omnipotent. Jabun asks if he has found the Hero of Time, which the KoRL says he hasn't. When the KoRL says that Link has no connection to that hero, I believe they're talking about the connection through the Triforce of Courage, since that's the next thing they go on to discuss. WW Link does not possess the Triforce of Courage, so the King is just going on what his gut instinct.

EDIT: Also, I'm editing the video now. Expect a link later tonight.

    Speaking of which:

Chapter 5: Yes, all my chapter titles from here out will be based off songs.

It still gets a bit off at the end, but I'm still tweaking. I think I know what I did wrong this time.

And yes, I could go arguing this stuff to the end of time. It's odd though, I never really thought much about the plot outside of the Zelda games or tried to analyze it or anything until I started doing these. I've started to do it with all the games I'm playing now though, and I like it.

Do you happen to have the ffdshow codec pack installed?

If you do, and you want the file size smaller, you can try using Virtualdub to open your video and recompress it using the ffdshow encoding codec. It's useful because you can set the video bitrate, so you can estimate how large your video's going to be based on how long your video is.

Mine's set at 900kbps, which means that I get about 68megs of video every 10 minutes. So for an hour and a half, it might end up being about 600megs.

Maybe if you lowered the bitrate slightly it would fit under 500megs and you could stick it on Vimeo?

Yes, I do, I think. I got it from Debut. And given what you said, the compression size sounds about right, it's like, 7-8 megs shy of 650MB with DrDivX's compression. Edit: Lowered the bitrate from 900 to 500kbps, and the file size reading is now 340 something MB.
