Looking for Disgaea related games

So, since recently coming in to possession of a 60 gig PS3, I am excitedly trying to pick up some of the titles that I have never owned in the past, due to never having either of the previous Playstation models.

I have Disgaea on my PSP, and I like it a lot. I like Nippon Ichi in general, but they have too many games for me to just run out and buy all of them, so I'm curious to know which ones either play the most like Disgaea, or tie in to the Disgaea universe in some way.

For the record, I've also picked up a copy of Phantom Brave, since I found the special edition used. I haven't played it yet, though.

The only other specific NIS games I've had my eye on were Makai Kingdom and, of course, Disgaea 2. Is that everything that is Disgaea related, or am I missing something?

Also, because I love having things to play over remote play, is Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure any good? Is it worth the $30 it seems to go for on ebay?

There is one title that you seem to have missed...

    http://www.lapucelletactics.com/index2.html

Edit: Now only is it a NiS Tactical RPG, it is in fact loosely tied in to Disgaea...
Prier appears as a hidden boss in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. In Disgaea, Prier (mistranslated as Priere) is the Overlord of an Alternate Netherworld, an allusion to the hidden "ending" in La Pucelle where Prier ends up accidentally becoming a Demon Overlord if she gets too strong fighting in the Dark World. Fighting through the Alternate Netherworld and defeating Prier in battle makes her join the player's army. She appears again in Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories as a hidden boss where she, still a demon, faces the main characters Adell and Rozalin. In the first, she has no speaking role. Her voice is only heard during combat. In the second one, she has two speaking (without a voice actor) roles, but no combat voice.

I was going to ask a similar question, but I didn't feel like it really deserved it's own thread.

I'm looking for a game in this genre, and I was wondering which game you guys think is the best. I've really only played FF:T, but I've heard these Nippon Ichi games are pretty good. I've also heard that they can be ridiculously complex, which for me is not necessarily a good thing. I'm looking for something that has depth, but not ridiculously complex. Which game should I pick up?

Having only played Disgaea, I'll tell you that, while yes, there is potential for extreme complexity there, you can also play it very simply.

In order to get through the game, you can make use of things like the item world, and the senate, etc., or you can just take up the traditional situation of grinding up your level, and then slaughtering everything.

Soul Nomad? I don't play these games very often but Soul Nomad is at least a little similar in style I think.

Soul Nomad plays vaguely similar to the rest of the Disgaea games, though there are some significant changes. From a storyline perspective, they really aren't connected at all. There's a couple cameos from characters from the main series, but no major tie-ins the way that the other games do it.

As for Rhapsody, my advice would be to wait a while. Things might happen to make it more readily available at some point in the future. Not totally sure on that, but just something to put out there.

Rhapsody is very easy, but it has some hilarious songs, and a good story.

My favorite NIS game is Phantom Brave, personally. Great story, and unique battles.

The non-grid movement isn't for everyone, but it's certainly different. La Pucelle's also excellent.

Makai Kingdom is basically Phantom Brave with more insanity(both gameplay and story wise) and less polish, IMO, but it's got a hilarious story going for it, if nothing else. It's the only one I haven't finished.

Aren't Walnut and Asagi the only real cameos in Soul Nomad? Or is my mind just blanking?

You can always do what I did and import Disgaea 3. :)

Yup. That would be the 'couple' I referred to.

Technically there's a scene where an unseen Laharl has a single line, but I don't think that really counts.

With my absolute zero knowledge of Japanese, I doubt that would be such a good idea.
