I just started playing again after quiting for a while when I found out the second game, .hack//mutation is the same thing as the first game .hack//infection the only difference is the mobs are harder and the bosses take forever now to grind down. I really don't consider that an improvement. The only problem is I love the anime and it really does not make much sense without beating the video games. I don't understand most of the references and now that the silver night is back I think I am missing a ton of his backstory too from not beating the games and watching .hack//roots. Oh you know whats really great you get to the end of .hack//roots anime and it just ends and you have to pick it up in the next video game .hack//GU...
Cliffs, I am really far behind in video games to understand the anime and I am stuck in .hack//mutation. I am level 38 and I can't even play level 35 fields. Anyone else get stuck too? Help...
Those games are tough, I got stuck in Mutation, too, and eventually just gave up. Good anime though, you're right.
lol What happen did you find the mobs become really hard in mutation compared to infection? A good portion of the mobs kill most of my party in one or two hits.
About all you can do is learn to tinker with the Gate. Pick some words and throw together an area where either there's a lot of weak enemies or a few strong enemies. Don't fight on the overworld map if you don't have to- monsters like to appear out of fucking nowhere and stomp you. I'd head down into something low 30's and locate a supply room full of breakables. You can score a lot of healing potions, element items, physical and mental heals just by breaking stuff over and over.
You'll want to trade a lot of stuff, too- there are NPCs who will part with great equipment if you get enough of those stupid element items. I'd say go to some lower-level areas and clear dungeons to get some trade bait. You can always find better weapons on trades than you can in the shops, so see what the wandering players have for trade in town. You can pull some great stuff if you know who needs what (as in, a Heavy Blade might take a weak piece of heavy armor for more credit than a stronger piece of wavemaster gear in trade, and everyone likes treasure!).
