I had always assumed that because of the grand number of books written by white men, compared the the very small number of books written by non-whites or females or whatever, that the amount of dead white men that make it into English classes isn't a result of some current prejudice, but rather a statistical phenomenom. Unless blacks, women, etc. were entirely as prolific as white men but we just refuse to celebrate them, I don't think there's much of a current problem.

Well, this was the teacher training. When you're an actual teacher you can rip-off the internet for basic lesson plans to use as starting points, and after a year or two you've got a full set for the curriculum developed for yourself.

I just mean that if, for instance, only 17% of the writing of any group was ever any good, the largest writing group will obviously dominate what's being taught now, and it was only a result of the prejudice back then that resulted in the difference we have now, not existing prejudice now.
