Found a ridiculously addictive 2D physics simulator called "Phun" (get it!!?!?11!1).

Download it and the necessary files. It's available for Windows currently, maybe Mac soon.

Hrm this reminds me of that tech demo with the multi-touch screen where they had a similar physics program... are they related? (if anybody knows what I'm talking about)

I made tried making a trebuchet but I really don't know how they work beyond slinging their ammunition. So it's more of a catapult with a rope on it.

    This is really fun.

    I like destroying brick towers.

I wonder if you could make a self-cocking gun?

Now build it so I can watch. :) Not sure how you would make a self-releasing sling.

Let us see if I waste more time with this than I wasted with the falling sand game.

PA forums don't allow attachments and I'm too lazy to upload, but try this for the trebuchet: make a hinged lever with the fulcrum near a heavy block fixed to one end. That is the weight that swings down. On the other end attach a chain to a semi-circular pouch made out of the brush tool. To the other end of the pouch, attach a chain that also continues above the lever arm and rests on it a little ways up the lever arm (use 2 chains because you can't draw them). As the lever moves up, that chain slides off the lever. Put a circle inside the pouch and run.

The tricky part is tweaking the chain density and object weights. Heavy block at the end, light chains, pouch, and bullet. Bump up the density and friction on the chain that attaches to the lever.
