Weird graphical glitches in games and streamed videos.

So i was watching the new Zero Punctuation the other day, full screen, and I noticed that I had some weird glitches in the black areas. I just took a screen dump of them, with the intention of showing the symptoms, but they don't show in screen dumps. They are weird coloured patches in the areas that should be black.

I also have experienced graphical glitches in games. in The ship some textures appeared just black, same in The Club, and some effects where just black squares.

I thought maybe drivers would be an issue, so I installed the latest Radeon Omega Drivers (v4.8.442) over my previous drivers (iirc the ones off the disc that came with the card)

My set up -

Core2Duo 2.16
1gig ram
X1600 pro
running XP pro.

Any suggestions?
I hope my graphics card isn't broke/breaking, I can't really afford to replace it right now...

Edit: .avi files off my PC play fine.

I had a similar problem with an old ATI I had-Whenever I played FEAR there would be weird graphical things like a bunch of red dots where there shouldnt be, etcetera.

I think that it's called "Artefacting/Artifacting" and it usually has something to do with your card overheating continuously or just screwing up. Keep in mind I'm not too sure if thats always the actual cause, but from what I remember(dont quote me on this) it usually means you need a new card or something of the sort.
