My friend and I have started a business and are going to have our website developed shortly.
We have currently invested in a single Dell PowerEdge server to host the site, and it is set-up and running with Server 2003.
Can this server be configured to host both the flash media and the website? Or do we need a second/separate flash media server solution (whether that be investing in our own or outsourcing the hosting)?
If I you need me to provide more information, please let me know.
Yes both can host it, they run on different ports.
However, you also have to consider the implications of running something that converts live video and audio into Flash format and the uploads it back to the user. It's very CPU intensive if you are using it for that purpose and could bog down your HTTP host.
However, if you are just using it for the SharedObject features for basic multi-user Flash, it should be perfectly fine.
