I have a severe mouse problem.

So I have the Razor Copperhead mouse. And I hate it. I've had it for a year or so and only through sheer will and vast quantities of self-hatred have I not bought a new mouse. But enough is enough. I loathe this mouse.

Ergonomically, it just doesn't suit me. I have big hands and try as I might I cannot get used to this slippery piece of crap (no offense to Razor fans).

My favorite mice have been the Microsoft Intellimouse (first edition, I think, before it was revised and made smaller) and the Logitech MX500+ line. I had an MX518 and gave it to my mother. Big mistake!

Anyway, I'm looking to get back into games. The MX518 is still available, for 40-50 bucks so I'm leaning that way. I definitely want a wired mouse as I've had bad experiences with wireless mice scurrying all over my desktop. As I was looking it up, I noticed a newish Logitech "G9 Gaming Laser Mouse" and I wanted to know if anyone has this mouse and has any input on it, mostly with regard to its ergonomics. Noting that I absolutely ABHOR the Razor Copperhead design, is this something I would like? I had the MX1000 when it first came out, and despite being wireless and fucking up from time to time, I really liked it. So any thoughts on either the G9 or anything similar to the MX518/MS Intellimouse that you would recommend?

Also I have these grey rodents all over my home and I hate them. Yes, I have traps and I've caught a few but these little fuckers multiply rather rapidly I guess, fucking and reproducing in my walls and whatnot. I had heard that certain scents can disrupt their "trails," like peppermint, and that they dislike cotton balls and brillo pads. Is there any truth to this, or is it bullshit?

Clean your house. Mice mostly come out at night, mostly. And then only because there is food lying around. Mice are clean animals. The owners of the houses they plague are not.

And I like the Logitech mice. I have a wireless one. Must be about an MX500, MX518, something around there. It is lovely. Nice and heavy, makes the pew pew. I honestly don't think a mouse gives you much of an 'edge' in gaming though. Assuming it's a functional mouse and not a $2, dirt caked abomination, a good brand like Logitech or MS or Razor or whoever is fine. Go with comfort, not with what some inbred 'h4rdc0re 3|_||te' gamer claims gives him the ultimate edge over teh n00bs.

Nah I don't care about 31|73 gaming shit, just comfort. BUT if the G9 is really nifty and feels good (it looks like it has a nice feel), I'll go for that. I care about feel more than anything else.

I've got the G5 currently, but now you've got me looking at the G9. It wasn't out when I had to buy a mouse, but I loved the freespinning mouse wheel on the MX Revolution (but I had to return it 4 times for new ones due to hardware defects, so DON'T get a Revolution). The G9 looks pretty hot, I'd hit up a Best Buy/Fry's etc and see how each one feels on their display models. That's usually your best bet.

On impulse I just ordered the G9 as I was ordering something else from Newegg anyway.

Newegg has it for $89.99 - $15.00 instant rebate and another 10 dollar mail-in rebate. So it's $64.99 when all is said and done, and you just have to lay out $74.99 + shipping. It's $99.99 in store, I think.

Yeah, I'm disgusting. Still, not a bad price, and really...having a comfortable mouse is important.

Ha, I just grabbed one from NewEgg too. I needed a hard drive and swung by the Mice to check the pricing...then my damnable impulse buying nature took over.

I generally like logitech mice.... though I jsut picked up a Belkin rechargeable wireless one from a local distributor and I lurv it. Then again, I wanted wireless with back and forth buttons for browsing, and it has all that for only $25 plus it comes with a recharging stand thinger

FYI, I got the mouse. I haven't used it much for gaming yet, but I LOVE it. I love the feel.

To be honest, I was rather worried after reading stuff about it online. People were complaining that it is uncomfortable for web browsing and day-to-day mouse use because it requires a "claw style" grip (similar to the Razor Copperhead). And I loathe the Razor Copperhead.

This doesn't feel like the Razor at all. Okay, so I can't smother it with my hand or anything, but it feels amazing and accurate.

Christ almighty I hate the Razor.

I have a G9, and I absolutely love it. I also have big hands, and the ergonomics are fantastic. The scroll wheel feels nice, and you can toggle between clicky and smooth operation. The sensitivity settings are also quite nice, especially since you can change them on the fly. You can also open the thing up and add/remove weight to your liking. You can also change between a rubberized grip and a textured plastic one.

The only thing I don't like about it is the stiff middle button, but I've since gotten used to it. It's a really sexy mouse that's been worth every penny.

The middle button is stiff. Also, with the scroll wheel "ratchet" off, sometimes I get some rubberbanding motion with the wheel. But it's all good. I love it.
