identifying a movie

Parts of this movie have been stuck in my head the past few days and its killing me to know what it is. I was gonna post this up on imdb but they require credit card verification and stuff like that and i didn't wanna mess with that.

Ok so the movie itself is a horror movie and i remember seeing it probably around the mid to late 90's. The movie itself i think is probably from the 80's or 90's. The only things i can really remember is some people move into a house or there already living there and i believe in the kitchen theres a door leading to the basement area. For some reason theres a china cabinet blocking the area and there is some sort of creature or the like down there. It also seems like during one part of the movie a little boy goes down into the basement area but is quickly brought back up into the kitchen or is scared off. The only other part i really remember is it seems at the end of the movie theres some sort of explosion I'm not sure if they blew up the house or something nearby. I know its really vague but its killing me thanks for your guys' help.

    No thats not it either. I should add the house seems like its out in the country somewhere its not actually located in town. Its kind of an older house, although i dont know if this will help much.

    People Under the Stairs? It's not exactly right, but it was the first thing I thought of. I'm pretty sure they blow up the house at the end too.

    no thats not it either. this seems like its gonna be one of those one off movies that you never figure out what it is until you randomly stumble upon it.

    no thats the thing the monster itself i dont remember, im not even sure if it was showed all that much in the movie. I know this isnt much info to work with and i wish i could remember more.

    i think that might be it. I'm gonna read some more about it but the whole cellar thing seems to be what im looking for if this it your a life savior this was killing me not knowing what it was.

    Are you sure it is a movie? It sounds exactly like an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?

    im pretty sure its a movie and the cellar seems like it is it but i'll take a look at are you afraid of the dark episodes as well.
