Video card driver crashing.

I have an eVGA 7600GT video card. In various game engines*, a couple minutes into the game, the video freezes and gets artifacts, the sound stutters, and the game crashes. My trusty notification area (OS: Vista64) gives me the message that my video card drivers crashed and recovered.

I uninstalled my video card driver, rebooted, installed the latest stable version (169.25), and rebooted again, but to no avail.
The card has not been running hot.
I made no software or hardware changes before this happened, it came on suddenly.

Is my video card toast?

*Source and 3DMark06.

UPDATE: It now crashed majorly (BSOD) during a Windows Media Player full-screen movie. The BSOD blamed the video drivers crashing.
