The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Someone posted a question about submitting independent games for the PAX10 Indie Showcase and was redirected to the standard PAX FAQ thread which is really quite broad. Anyone who's put the time and effort into developing an independent game deserves a dedicated place to answer these specific development questions.
I personally found out about the PAX10 from Gamasutra.
What information if any can be released to developers of independent games at this point? The only thing we know currently is that May 7th is the deadline. Are there any other parameters we might take into consideration? Is there a special website we'll be directed to for the submission process?
Please don't lock this thread. Developers will need a place to have more focused discussion away from the general PAX craziness.
Speaking as somebody who once administrated a forum with thousands of users, moderators/administrators don't like it when people try to tell them how to run their forums.
The PAX forum is a mostly front end/attendee discussion arena, what you're looking for is more back end/exhibitor information. While it's true that Robert Khoo, Mike Fehlauer, and Amber Fechko sometimes read these forums, you're much better off contacting them directly, because 99% of the people here have no clue about such behind-the-scenes matters.
You might also have noticed and disregarded that in the PAX site FAQ it says:
I'm a game company. Who do I contact with regards to exhibiting at PAX?
Even with three times the square footage of last year's PAX, over half of the exhibitor floor has already been booked. So get in touch right away by contacting Mike Fehlauer.
Granted, you're not looking for floor space, but the scenario is much closer to exhibition than anything else, so it's a logical place to start.
Thanks for the email link that will be extremely help. I don't know if they'll have time to deal with every developer who will enter this showcase or if they'll pass the word down the line so questions can be answered here but I guess we'll find out.
Additionally, I hope I didn't come across as rude and instead merely concerned. I clicked on the other thread hoping to see some questions answered and there was nothing about the PAX10 Indie Showcase so I figured most developers would benefit from a thread dedicated to this important aspect of the larger event at hand. Thanks again!
