Hello,

I posted 2 months ago about Jury duty how my two postponements where for legit reason, first one is because I had dental surgery and I was paying it out of my pocket so I couldn't miss work, second time was a business trip I cannot miss work before the trip and after (3 weeks of this fell on Jury duty and I never had notice of the trip) and now my jury duty is now the second week of my new job I just got. I am trying to find to how long in Los Angeles County can I postponed this. Also I have proof for to show each postponement was legit. I read in other states you can put it up to a year.

Thank you,

Businesses are required by law (in California in particular, but also most other states) to give you time to go to Jury duty. Just give your work sufficient advanced notice and everything should be ok.

Let your job know right away that you've been called up for jury duty. There's a good chance you will still have to serve, as "I have a new job" is not a good excuse (unless you can demonstrate extreme financial hardship), but your employer isn't allowed to discriminate against you because you've been called up for jury duty. You can certainly try for another postponement, as there doesn't appear to be a limit to the number you're allowed, but you should indicate on your postponement request the next date you'll be available to serve and expect to serve sometime near that date.

The thing is the job wants me to start right away basically 1 week I will start and I got the reminder notice after I got the job offer. I will contact my employer and the courthouse see what I can do, just wanted to know the limits to postponing jury duty.

Just thought about this, can I move my jury duty few weeks earlier? The job I am leaving for will not mine me having my last week be in jury duty. Is that heard of?

They generally won't let you move your jury duty to earlier, just later, but if you call and explain the situation, they may let you.

Calling isn't going to hurt, in any case.
