Help me figure out what breed this dog is, also suggest a name.
My mom rescued this animal from one of her tenants. I would like to know if anyone can recognize the
breed. I think he's a mutt. My mom says he's a Pekingese, but she's nuts. Also she refers to the dog as a boy or girl randomly.
Also I will take suggestions for a middle name. First name is Joates. Last name Matteer.
He looks like some sort of lab or lab mix. Judging by the size of his paws, I'm guessing he'll get quite a bit bigger, so make sure to teach him manners now before jumping up stops being cute and starts being painful.
Middle name: Talbot just seems right for some reason.
My sister took the puppy to the vet and I guess it went well. I'll look into the blood test thing next time I go myself. I think we've decided on 'Vlad' as a middle name. Pronounced 'Vlaaaaaaaaaaaaad' though. Thanks for everyone's help!
I always liked giving pets important names. Had a teacher name one of hers Lord Ashley Cooper that I liked.
Other than that, snuggles is all I can think of when I see that little guy
I don't know about the lab part. It actually looks more golden retriever to me, but the face is wrong (still doesn't look narrow enough to be Pekingese, though).
That puppy looks a lot like a dog that comes into my work for camp. It could be a goldendoodle - Golden retriever / poodle mix. Or a labradoodle - Labrador retriever / poodle mix. Anyway grats on the new addition, and make sure to get the little guy some behavior training!
Also, pugs are #1.
Rokate on
Tomorrow's forecast: a few sprinkles of genius with a chance of DOOM!
Yeah it looks a lot like a golden retriever puppy except the head is a different shape. I'll say it's a cross between a golden retriever and a smaller dog. Retriever + poodle sounds about right. Hell, it could be golden retriever + Pekingese. A cross between a big dog and a really small one may sound unlikely, but I've seen it happen; dogs can be pretty inventive when they want to get it on.
You could also try submitting some photos to Daily Puppy and see if you get any further opinions on the breed. They're more dog enthusiasts, so they may have better collective knowledge.

CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH
Looks like there's some golden in there also.
I propose a middle name of McBarker.
Adorable.

What a sweetie! I don't see any pekinese in him, though. Maybe lab or golden retriever. Not a purebred anything, I would guess.
What's with the dogs getting mistreated lately? I just read about the puppy thrown out of the window in the other thread and now this.
I hate people sometimes.
Name it Pishkin.
Call the little bugger Dimitri or Vladimir.
. i would say some golden in there. but its hard to say without an approximate age

I wanna see their faces turn to backs of heads and slowly get smaller

Hook us up with a profile shot, so we can see the bone structure and face layout.
I agree that Slayer is an amazing name for such an adorable puppy. Make sure he gets his shots and liscences and whatnot.
