I absolutely loved the setting, but the campaign was kinda meh IIRC. The three factions are incredibly varied and are pretty equal in terms of power. As it's part of the Rise of Nations series, the game plays quite similarly with adding on to your main settlement and instead of being able to build new towns, you have to find the locations designated for settlements in order to build them.
You've got the Vinci (normal humans, technology based, steampunk), the Alin (desert dwellers, magic based), and the Cuotl (alien technology that looks similar to Aztec buildings, based on religion)

The Cuotl happen to be my favorite. Their basic foot unit shoots lasers and they get huge walking statues that absolutely dominate. Think Shadow of the Colossus. And their super unit is a hovering city of death.
