Hey guys,

First off, i appologize if this kind of thread has been posted elsewhere (maybe G&T?) but searching for "Wii Game" is not allowed cause "Wii" is only 3 letters long... =(

Anyway, my nephew will be getting a Wii for his birthday, and it was brought upon me to recommend the best game for him. Here is some info about him:

- 6th grade (does that make him 12? 13? i dont even remember how old i was in 6th grade)
- Plays games regularly (moreso on the portable stuff like DS)
- Very immature for his age.
- Has a younger (10 years old) sister who might like to play with him considering how "fun" the Wii looks.
- Has Nintendo DS with games such as Nintendogs, Spider-Man, X-Men, and those types of games.
- Not too big on Guitar Hero (even though he can play it on easy)
- LOVES my Tenchu Z for 360...always loved Ninja-esque games.

Essentially, its like shopping for yourself when you were.....8. heh. I was thinking Super Smash Brothers: Brawl when it comes out (it comes out in like 6 days right?)...cause hell, even *I* would play that.

Anyway...thoughts? I'm brand new to the Wii...never touched one.

Brawl is a good choice. Might think about Marvel: Ultimate Aliiance if he's into superheroes - his sister can play with him on co-op.

My little brother's a bit older than your nephew, and he adores Mario Galaxy. It really is a beautiful game with a fairly gentle learning curve, and more "for everyone" than kiddy. If you want something a little easier, Elebits is very clever and sweet; even my mom loves playing it.

I've been playing Zack and Wiki lately, and it's pretty kid friendly - though they need to be patient enough to do puzzle solving, as opposed to just flailing around killing enemies.

Mario Galaxy is a good time sink, and allows for another player to "help" with another controller (not exactly 2 player).

Brawl is a big YES. That's obviously the number one choice. If his birthday is after the 9th, you can pick a copy up.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a little more mature, I'd say. Not that it's explicit or bad or anything, but there's a lot of reading (or listening) and character customizing that an "immature" 12 year old wouldn't want to bother with.

Zelda : Twilight Princess is good, but runs into a similar problem as Ultimate Alliance - it might be a little mature (not in content but in game play). You can get lost and have trouble figuring out where to go.

There's a Naruto game that came out for the wii recently... It's stupidly easy to play and kinda fun but it burns out quick.

Cool! thanks for the input guys.

I'm going to push for Brawl, but if i can get him 2 games, it looks like it will be the Marvel Alliance.

my other nephew has the Naruto game for 360, and it looks boring as hell. Mario Galaxy looks good as well, that would be a close 2nd. He may get that later down the road though. Good call, i forgot about that one.

Anyway, this should do! Thanks again!

There's also a Dragonball Z fighting game that is passingly enjoyable for a bit. I suspect it would hold a 12 year old's attention for longer than it did mine. Lots of flying around, kicking butt, big explosions, etc.

There are actually 2 of these for the wii (2 and 3). If you're going to get one, I'd get the 3rd one as they're basically the same game, but there were a couple of minor upgrades in the 3rd (including online play).

Ninja Reflex just came out. It's more or less a bunch of minigames that's well in the vein of WarioWare. Pick up both of those, in fact. You don't need much of an attention span to play games like these and they're damned fun.

My nephew is going crazy for Mario Vs. Sonic Olympics, and he's 8. He also loves Pokemon Battle Revolution and Mario Galaxy.
