Itunes question

OK i know some people don't like itunes and will say to get another program, but for now i'm curious how i can answer this question using i tunes. A guy i used to work with who DJs weddings and stuff did it on his comp using itunes so i know it can be done.
How can i make a song fade out in the last say 6 seconds while a new song is fading in. I know it's using the crossfade feature which it sorking to make songs fade out, but nothing seems to be fading in over the fade out. Anyone know how to do this.
I'm bassically trying to have a seamless transition between songs for a wedding.
That's as best as iTunes does. The crossfade will only affect the ending song. If he faded the next song, he must have modified the track itself or used a different tool.
Your buddy may also have set up a long list of songs in a separate editor and then simply played it back in iTunes, so that he'd have appropriate crossfades for each track.
Still, that's weird; I know when I played with it a while back, it faded out the old song and faded in the new one. I mean, it's not really a crossfade at all if it's simply 1 song fading out and another song simply starting at its regular volume once the other song is finished completely.
Are you shuffling or do you have a playlist ready? The only reason I could imagine it not working is if it simply doesn't know what the next song is going to be -- and thus doesn' tknow what to fade into.
Yeah, I don't have itunes on my work computer to check this right now but the behavior is supposed to be what you're looking for (fading out on one while fading in on the other).
This is from Apples iTunes help:
1. From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences (Windows: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences), then click the Playback button at the top of the window.
2. To hear songs fade in and out, select Crossfade Playback.
3. To decrease or increase the amount of time it takes for the current song to fade out at the end and the new song to fade in, drag the "seconds" slider left or right.
Which indicates that the new song should be fading in. Not sure why it wouldn't be doing that.
