A very quick question

So I've been looking for a job for a while and I saw this ad in the paper that asks me to mail a 'letter of interest.'

I know the man's name, so I have the salutation, but I'm really not sure what the body of the letter should be. My name, the reason I'm interested, a note that I'm writing in response to this ad, a summary of why I'd be right for the job? All of the above? None of the above?

All of the above. But don't repeat what's on your résumé. It's an opportunity to sell yourself for the job before the interview.

    I think.

Letter of intent is usually a good way to show how suitable you are for this job. One thing to include for sure would be your availability.
