Crazy Taxi was one of the most awesome games of yester-generation, and one of the first games I got extraordinarily good at. Talk about how goddamn awesome it is in here.

HERE-WE-GO!
Crazy Taxi is the best game ever made and even though I haven't played it for years, I am confident I could still get some girl at the beachfront to Tower Records in the blink of a fucking eye.

When I first read the thread title, I thought Matthew Lesko had invaded the PA Forum.
Then I read the thread and I was a lot happier.
CT was a must-play for me whenever I'd see it at an arcade. At one of my previous jobs where I did a lot of travelling, I knew of a couple of truckstops that had arcades, and they'd invariably have CT.
Damn, I was hoping for a "get rich quick" scheme. Oh well, I guess this is almost as good. I never owned the Dreamcast version, but I used to play the arcade version a whole lot. It looks like I can get Crazy Taxi complete for about $8 shipped on eBay. Score! :^:
I bought my own Dreamcast and Crazy Taxi the very next day after playing it at a friend's house. There's just something wickedly awesome about driving through a park while people dove out of the way that made me laugh like a total madman. The only other game that even came close to this feeling was the Road Rage mode in the Burnout series.
Also, fuck that gametrailers review. Offspring and Bad Religion were absolutely fucking perfect for this game.
I still have my VMU with my 100% save on it. This game was so amazing when it came out. I mean, it's still fun but when it came out we were in awe of it. We played it non-stop.
The mini games were the best part. I can still see the bowling pin courses.
1. The new map just wasn't good. Long distances and a pretty uninspiring design overall. The overhaul that Small Apple got was a vast improvement though - much better flow through the map instead of the punishing level of diffuculty it was in CT2.
2. The game itself wasn't finished properly, significant framerate drops on the new map. Plus, my copy was one that was busted in that any time a passenger says something it blasted out garbled static that sounded like 2 boulders grinding against one another. Tried 2 copies from 2 stores, eventually got posted a fully functional copy from the distrubutor.
3. IMHO Bixbite (the 'speed' addition) was the best character out of the full 12 roster whilst Ms Venus was the worst (funny how these things work like this).
I think the main problem with it was it didn't add a single thing over CT2, which was sort of understandable since it happened at a time where:
- Sega had moved to 3rd party, thus was probably expected to hit alot of consumers who'd never played CT2 before and thus not notice the lack of gameplay addition between 2 and 3.
- It happened right before Live really took off, so multiplayer wasn't explored.
It wass alright, but CT2 is where I'll always be when thinking about CT.
Actually, I remember when before Spider-Man 2 came out, I thought I heard that there would be "Taxi missions" essentially that you could start at any time; not just escorting injured people to the hospital every once in a while.
AWESOME! Master System (allegedly) doing 'The Offspring' CT tune!

I like how you can pick up random people going 90 over grass and through traffic with no seatbelts, and they loved it. Then, when you skidded to the destination, they'd tip you like $100. If driving a real cab was like this, I'd do it all damn day.

I loved this game. At one point I could go almost an hour without running out of time, the trick was to navigate your way to the city then pick up red and orange fares.
I've really only played CT3 on my roommate's Xbox. It's pretty fun, but gets somewhat old after about an hour or two.
The insane special missions are totally what makes the game worth it. Playing a quarterback blitzing down a football field as tractor trailers try to shove you off the field? Yes.

Carry on.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
I never played Crazy Taxi III. Was it any good?
And real music! Holy-shit, the offspring in an actual video game? Such an awesome game.
I don't think anyone played CT3. I heard it was pretty disappointing.
I was never that good at CT2, I could never really get my head around the hydraulics.
What, the jump button? It was a silly gimmick. The city was nice, though.
It was ok.
Also, someone please help me get that damn Offspring song out of my head.

What a great way to waste my spending money.

I cannot count the number of hours I have sank playing CT. It was like, the multiplayer game for us when we were 14/15 and dscovering weed.
I'm going to see them next month!
Nonsense!
Ironically I also have the Dreamcast version of Crazy Taxi 2, which came out before the GC port of Crazy Taxi.
The only thing I didn't like was that you had to switch gears for reverse (I was still waist-deep in GTA at the time), but I got over it quick.
Barring the VF series, definitely my favorite Sega game.
*bunch of lyrics I dont know*
Sliding up walls for ridiculous amounts of bonus points was awesome.
