SATA questions

Alright, so I need to know if I can use a SATA II cable on what I think is just a regular dvd SATA drive. And if I got a female to female SATA II cable and a male to male SATA II cable can I hook them together to make an extension cable for what I think is a regular SATA cable.

I bought a sata to esata bracket thing, but it wouldn't plug into the sata cable because of the extra metal shit they put around the female esata plug and after ripping all that stuff off it wouldn't work. And I did eliminate the drive being the problem, because the cable wouldn't work on a friends comp either.

Could I use this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200112

and this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200082

to do what I want? To make an extenstion?

I know nothing about SATA, if that wasn't obvious. I don't even know if you can daisy chain sata cables like this.
