I am about to go to a gas chamber in about 20 minutes and I need to know if I can wear contacts. It is just tear gas or whatever the white stuff that comes out of the little tablets that are burned (I think). I have to take off my gas mask so I am not sure if contacts will be, but I need to wear my contacts for rest of the day and won't have time to change.
Ya probably but I was just told yesterday that I had to go and I didnt even get my gas mask and chem gear until an hour ago, I dont even know if it all fits.
I would assume that since it is to prepare you for an unexpected situation in which you will mostly likely be wearing your contacts you can wear them. However, I know jack shit so I would bring your contact case and glasses and ask one of the people running the event.
Furthermore, individuals who are exposed to CS Gas should not have contact lenses in their eyes, since exposure to the gas causes the lens to fuse to the cornea of the eye.
I've dealt with many people that have been pepper sprayed and tear gassed. You don't want to be wearing contacts, they hang onto the chemical and make it much much worse.
All that being said, they may want you wearing your contacts because that's what you'd be doing normally. In that case you have to get them out of your swollen painful eyes so you can flush them with water. Then you'll have to put in a new pair anyway.
Good luck, it's not fun.

"What are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman!"
Yeah, contact lenses are a very, very bad idea. Wear glasses or nothing at all.
Some people react particularly badly, and getting contacts out of eyes that are almost swollen shut is not easy or particularly pleasant. I'm pretty much immune to the stuff these days and could probably sit in a chamber for hours, ending up looking like I had hayfever at worst. But yeah, some people dont cope well, and their body reacts violently.
Dont eat eggs or dairy products 24 hours prior to the chamber. Trust me, it will end up on the floor.
This.
Our drill sergeants thought it would be funny if they gave us spaghetti and lots of chocolate milk for lunch. They even let the idiots who wanted to have seconds go back for more. Guess how much fun those people had...
Contacts and CS gas = lots of pain if the concentration of the gas is at a resonable level (it should be for training) I learned this the hard way after going through a CS chamber at Fort Hood. It was a very bad time.

Is this for basic or something? I also heard that you shouldn't take a warm shower after as it will open your pores. Go cold.
